Nyu steinhardt- applied psychology

I’m an international transfer student. I want to know if it is easy to get in to the major said above? I will not submit any SAT as it is not required. I will submit my transcripts from the previous college that I entered, I had 87/100 (this is how our grading sysytem works). I’m an average student, no failing marks.

Extra-curriculars:
1.)Swimming team

  • a varsity player for 5 years.
  • joined the Sportsfest Swimming Competition in our school and won 3rd place.
  • competed in local competition.
  • member of the team B (2nd highest group) swimming team.
2.) Associate editor in our high school yearbook.
3.) Joined the home economics club, english club, and science club during high school.
4.) Member of the school chorale for 3 years.
5.) 3rd honor during the last quarter of 4th year high school.
6.) played a musical instrument- piano, I also played during the practical music course recital in our school auditorium.
7.) leader of the english research project.
8.) assistant leader of the science investigatory project. Got a perfect score for our invention of solar incubator.
9.) a committee at the Hotel and Restaurant Management Society during 1st year college.
10.) a member of the SCARLET chinese organization in college as well.

I also helped my mom and dad with their retail businesses during vacations.

My essays are nice but not so over the top.

Do you think I have a shot at entering this college with this major? I need some insights about this matter. Any comments will be highly appreciated. I really want this university so badly, even though I know that it is hard, that’s why I want to enter in nyu because I want to broaden my thinking skills. I want my brain to expand and be able to learn and not only memorize words.

Chance me please. Thanks!

Are your parents able to pay full cost of attendance, 140k for two years, including tuition, rent, food, transportation, books, personal expenses - and you’ll have to find an apartment off campus as there’s no housing for transfers. ?
Have you contacted the coach, see if you could swim for the team?
Your odds are decent but the two elements above would help.

Yes, there’s no problem with the tuition fee, and I’m willing to find my own housing off campus. I’ll try to contact the coach as soon as I can. But, will I still have a good chance to get accepted as I’m an International Transferee? Is it hard to get accepted with this major? By the way, thank you for your response, I appreciated it very much.

It’s hard, of course, but your profile + the fact you’re not applying for aid will help.
I hope you’re applying to other universities though : your odds are good but no one should think they’re 100% certain.

Are you currently studying at nyu?

No, I’m not - look under my collegeconfidential handle.

Do you think i will have a chance in these universities?

You should apply to universities that are a bit easier than NYU.
So, Fordham, okay.
Barnard would be another reach.
Suny new paltz honors, Hobart and William Smith, St Lawrence would be safeties / matches in NYS.
Ucsc, sdsu, Sonoma state would all be possibilities in California.
