So I am currently entering into my senior year. I have heard Steinhardt is the easiest school to get into at NYU and I would like to know someone else’s take on whether I could get in. I want to major in music technology.
So here’s some of my statistics: I have a 29 on my act and a 3.6 gpa(it most likely has gone up but I haven’t gotten the official score from my school yet) out of a 4.0 grading basis. I have taken AP and accelerated classes: AP us history, AP language and composition, AP literature, AP physcology, AP macro and economics, accelerated English for both freshman and sophomore years, and accelerated biology. I’m pretty involved in school.
Here’s a play-by-play of my Extracurriculars from each year. Freshman: orchesis(intramural dance club), Junior varsity poms team. Sophomore: orchesis, varsity poms, musical. Junior: varsity poms, musical, class council, music honor society. What I plan to do/ am doing senior year: varsity poms, musical, class council, music honor society, national honor society(still a maybe), and political club.
Also I have some interesting electives I’ve taken. I took Spanish for 3 years, chorus for 3 years, art for one year, and during my senior year I plan on taking business, music theory, and chorus(as I usually do). I’ve had some volunteering experience. I did volunteering at a local preschool camp in middle school(not sure if colleges care cause I was in middle school), during my freshman and sophomore summers I volunteered at my old middle schools cheerleading camp(I cheered from 5th to 8th grade then came back to coach my fresh and sophomore years), I’m trying to get a volunteer ship at a local museum or at a this local government funded day care.
Some other interesting facts about me: I attended a private catholic school from kindergarten to 8th grade and then public school for high school, I have danced since the age of 4, I play guitar, piano(in which I was self taught), and sing as well. Other random facts, I’ve worked two jobs so far, one at a pizza place and now I’m working at a clothing store, I enjoy reading and writing, I have written music and stories since I was a little girl.
Other bonuses: I tend to be a pretty good writer( for reference most of my AP style writing is scored an 8/9 on the traditional AP grading scale) I also have formed great relationships with multiple English teachers whom I know would love to help me with improving any college essays or scholarships essays- so overall I think my essay will help in the application process, I’m very well liked by all my teachers and I’m the favorite of quite a few so I expect to get some pretty good letters of recommendation from them(specifically my English teacher who has a great way of words and constantly commented on my great work ethic and improvements), I got mostly A- or B+ in my AP or accelerated classes( I haven’t gotten most recent AP scores back yet).
Let me know what you guys think, do I have a good or average chance of getting in? Specifically to Steinhardt for music technology.
Yes
