I want to know my chances at the following business schools:

NYU Stern - ED or RD??
UMich
Carnegie Mellon (Tepper Business)

Seems a little bit silly of you to post this… Of course you will get into to all of the above. You must be looking for some kind of confirmation, well here it is…

Post your unweighted GPA please. This 5.0 stuff for AP/Honors isn’t very common.

Ok I feel like I can help you in this dilemma…
I am an entering freshman at U of M as a Ross Pre-Admit.
I don’t know if you are familiar with the Ross PA system, but basically you apply early to the b-school as a high schooler. If you get in (about 5%) did this year, that’s great. If not, you can reapply like most end of freshman year (and you would have no problem).

Anyway, I stumbled across your questions and I realized that I have nearly identical credentials as you. Some examples are 800 math 690 CR, 4 yrs soccer (2 varsity), five APs my senior year, and good involvement all around.

So here’s my advice. I’d be very surprised if you dont get into NYU Stern, you’re a shoo-in for Michigan anyway (PA is hard to tell, very random), and from what I hear about CM you should be fine. Regarding NYU, please do not do ED, or you might regret it (unless you’ve visited several times and it is an obvious first choice). I thought I would love it and here I am going to U of M. Also, to help with NYU, highlight your global background in essays, that will help.

However, I encourage you to look at more schools. I don’t know where you’ve visited, but I visited my schools after I got in (these were U of M, Stern, Cornell, Virginia, Georgetown, Emory, Northwestern, and OSU), and it changed where I wanted to go a lot. You’d be surprised.

I don’t know where you live but also consider Cornell, Virginia, and UPenn (I got deferred and then denied), because more options is usually a good thing.

Oh, and one final point. You seem very interested in NYU. THe quip I have and one of the reasons I didn’t go was that they are very streamlined for finance (namely Wall Street jobs). However, not only is wall street bleeding, but there is also a lot more competition for it out of NYU. So I’ve heard getting a job out of UVA or U of M is actually easier, if you get my drift. Also, NYU doesn’t give you as much backup in case you don’t like finance, the other schools I mentioned can top NYU in almost every other business (and non-business) major.

So I guess I wrote a lot, but it’s because I wish I had more help when I was asking these questions a year ago, so I feel your concern.

Message me if you have any more questions, and good luck
