Hi all,
NYU is my dream school & I would like to major in business. However, I am afraid that I won’t get into NYU Stern.
I’ve read online that if you don’t get into Stern, NYU will just flat out reject you and won’t consider your second choice college. This makes me nervous because I would love to attend NYU, but I’m afraid if I apply to Stern and don’t get in I will ruin my chances.
So, should I apply to the CAS to raise my chances of overall admission, or should I take the risk and apply to Stern?
There are a few majors in CAS that I am interested in (journalism, politics), so it wouldn’t be a terrible idea, but business is still my #1 choice.
Stats:
AP courses: 6 total by end of senior year(scored a 3 on WHAP, 5 on APUSH, and 5 on Lang so far)
cumulative GPA: 4.0 uw/4.2 w
SAT: 1320/1600
ACT: 29 regular, 31 superscore
ec:
-4 years of varsity track
-3 years of varsity cross country
-2 years of leadership
-I have a job, and I was promoted to a management position over the summer
-Secretary of Youth Advisory Council
-National Honor Society
I know my test scores aren’t the strongest, but they’re not terrible. I’m hoping my GPA can make up for the loss, but I’m not sure what Stern focuses the most on.
So, my question is:
Are my stats strong enough for admission to Stern, or should I stick with CAS?
