Hello,
I am applying for NYU summer and I was wondering if anyone knows the average amount of scholarship/financial aid NYU offers to students. Also, are there any pros/cons of taking courses during the summer?
P.S- I am an incoming freshman at NYU CAS, so I will be a visiting student for the summer session. I am going to take 2-3 courses (most probably Principles of Econ 1&2, Stats or Calculus 2), so that I can graduate early. Current NYU students, any advice?

I’m participating in NYU Summer as well, and it depends on your level of need. If your financial background demonstrates a high level of need, then you’ll probably get a nice package. However, be warned that NYU, and many other urban, prestigious colleges are kind of stingy with aid. But as an incoming freshman, you’ll soon realize this.

I took summer classes (Calc I, Econ Principles II) before my freshman year, and I really enjoyed it. I had a strong background in Calc (Calc AB & BC 5), but no experience in Economics. The nice thing about summer classes is that it’s much easier than the normal semester. The course is 6 weeks, so professors usually drop certain topics/material. The classes will help boost your GPA. Also, being at NYU during the summer made the transition in the fall much easier. I knew basic street names, building locations, and great/cheap restaurants.
I strongly advice that you take Stats in the normal semester. (I’m assuming this is the 6 credits, Econ stats) I took it this past spring, and it was an intensive class. The class is important and interesting, so it’d be better to take it during the school year.

Kahoux can you please name some of those great cheap restaurants you were thinking of when you wrote this? thank you!
