Newbie here and a bit shy. If you don’t mind, I have two questions:
- Trying to find info about NYU’s Artistic Review, (audition) for BFA Acting. Unlike other schools, they do not list the requirements but state that you will receive an email after we call to request the Artistic Review in October.
- When you auditioned did you feel that there were more girls than boys applying or about equal?

In the past, the audition requirements for NYU/Tisch have been two contemporary, contrasting monologues, each less than 2 minutes in length, written after 1900.

Yes, there are more girls who audition than boys.

Just so you know, I realize you are auditioning for an acting studio, but the degree at Tisch is BFA in Drama (not Acting).

There are ALWAYS more females than males auditioning, but especially in musical theater.

One change this year for Tisch is that Regular Decision applicants will be able to audition in November in NYC, in addition to Early Decision applicants.

The dates are up for the regional auditions. It made me smile when they titled it the 2009 Artistic Review Tour.

One piece of advice we give every year, and it bears repeating to this year’s applicants. Book your artistic review as soon as it becomes possible. Dates and times book up very quickly.

how soon should we book?

ingette, the scheduler will become available online on October 1st.

Our experience was the audition date at NYU, was not allowed to be changed so we made that date first, and all the other auditions after that, as other schools let you change dates, if there are conflicts… ( that is my memory, gee only a year ago…) oh my

What exactly is StoneStreet?
Which studio would be suitable for someone interested in TV/Film acting solely?

Stone Street ia a one semester advanced studio that you do only film/TV acting. Stella Adler has a summer film/TV acting program in LA that you audition for as a Jr or Sr. My daughter is in it now and loves it. They just had their showcase and it had a great response from the industry. In fact she is going to graduate early and move there in January because she loved the program so much and made some great contacts.

That’s Great! I wish her luck. The industry is very tough. I have heard rumors that the Strasberg institute is no longer being offered through NYU. Is that true? Do any of the other studious teach a similar acting technique?

Re: Strasberg and NYU. The situation is this: for years, NYU Tisch has had a contract with the Lee Strasberg Institute studio to provide actor training for NYU Tisch students. That contract is now being renewed. If you want details, please go to the Musical Theatre forum under NYU and you can read the letter from the dean, etc.

Now if you don’t get accepted to Tisch @ NYU, are you also considered for the College of Arts and Sciences?
