NYU Transfer Fall 2019

@flygirl791 i applied to stern too!

Do you think more decisions will come tomorrow? It seems like thursdays are their move???

Congrats to everyone who got in! Anyone accepted as a math major?

Based on previous trends, Tuesdays and Thursdays seem to be NYU’s favorite days. Since you received a financial aid change, I’m sure you’ll be hearing news soon… so good luck!!!

I’m applying to NYU CAS; submitted my app on 03/28 and had everything checked off on 04/09.

About me:
I currently attend a CC and will be a junior this fall. I have a 3.98 GPA and midterm GPA is a 4.0– Science major. I’ve been involved in STEM research throughout my college career (300+ hours accumulated) and i’m part of a competitive research program. I have other ECs as well. For my NYU app, I submitted three LORs: 1 from my current research mentor, and 2 from professors (one of them was also my past research mentor) who know me very well.

But here’s the thing: my high school GPA was a 1.2. Despite my college record, I feel like my HS record would deter NYU from accepting me.

Anyone else share a similar experience?

For those accepted into CAS, would you mind sharing SAT scores, GPA for college and high school? Thanks

Hi. Has anyone submitted all of their materials but the checklist still says awaiting? Kinda panicking here right now coz I get no response from NYU.

@TrinityT they review applications for almost two months. They even say to give up to four weeks for everything to be checked off. Depending on when you submitted your app, it might just still be processing

@TrinityT I’m still waiting on my college transcripts to be checked off. I sent them via National Student Clearinghouse on March 28 and nyu retrieved them that same day. When I spoke to someone on Monday about it, they told me to call back Friday if they still aren’t checked off by then. I also don’t have my artistic review checked off, but I don’t expect that to happen for another several weeks if at all based on previous threads

@wilshire pretty similar situation here! Applying to Steinhardt for music business. 4.0 college gpa, around 2.0 HS GPA. Solid resume/ECs. However, I’ll only be a sophomore this fall, so I don’t have many credits past HS :///

@r34skylinegtr I have the exact same situation as you. I am planning on applying this November and I have 1300 for SAT. Last year I also applied to Tandon and got rejected because the high school credit I received and NYU HEOP doesn’t accept them. I am very confused whether NYU will accept my credits or not because I am going to city college. I am also debating between whether I should apply to tandon or cas computer science; last year I saw a lot of rejections from tandon for transfers. Please update me if you find out anything, it’ll be really helpful to me. Thank you

@loverose4565 In terms of credits, it’ll really depend on what NYU thinks. Some credits might transfer some might, I don’t think anybody besides NYU can give you a good answer. I would recommend CAS for CS just because it’s much more well developed since it’s just been around longer. (Source: friends at Tandon/CAS)

@jw8001 thank you for the advice. Also, I called NYU so many times about this issue asking them which credits will be transferred. I am in senior in high school right and if I go to City college they will most likely place me as a junior and when I asked NYU about the credits, they said if I get accepted then they will be able to tell the information, but I don’t know how does it make sense because how’d I know if there is right amount of credits to transfer. Some people told me to transfer the second semester and others told me to do it first semester since I will have 60 credits by the first semester. So I am really confused at this point. The big question is what is the right time to apply? Fall or spring.

@loverose4565 You will definitely lose credits if you apply for either spring or fall, since the limit for transfer credits is 64. In my opinion it’s best to transfer for Fall since you get to prove to the colleges that you’re a good student, since you’ll have two semesters of college grades under your belt. However, you did get a 1300 and I’m assuming you did super well in HS as well, so a spring transfer doesn’t look out of reach. If you do go for the spring transfer window, make sure your essays are great and just make sure your midterm grades are great as well, since NYU will be looking at that if you transfer for the spring.

@jw8001 I did ok in my high school, it wasn’t bad because I got A’s in all my Calc classes and B’s. I also did a program called NYU STEP and ACE mentorship at NYU Tandon. The director of NYU STEP will be writing me a rec letter and my essay I already started and almost done. I am looking forward to interning at a lab this summer to match with my major (comp sci). And yeah I will try to do best in my time at City. So judging from all this, do you think I should go for fall or should I wait till spring?

@loverose4565 I’m surprised you didn’t get into Tandon the first time around. Though based off of all of that, you have great EC’s, a great source for a letter of rec, and you’re definitely going to do well at City so I would say go for a spring transfer. Your chances look great in my opinion, of course get some more second opinions from others as well.

Thanks,that’s good to know

Does anyone know when the next round of decisions is coming out?

Does the NYU value more on your college GPA or the HS GPA?

Coz I was in HS out of the US and the grading system is kinda different. So it looks weird.

Hey im a student at SUNY Farmingdale applying to NYU as a Biology major(Sophomore in the fall)
Not too sure what im supposed to put but

College:
3.62 GPA1st semester
As of now all As for 2nd semester
Won Academic Excellence Award

High school:
3.8 GPA
1230 SAT
4 AP classes, honors for others

My credentials are not the best with no extra curriculars but I am a very strong writer. My transfer essays were centered around a passion for medicine driven by my father passing away. I also attatched 4 letters of recommendation.
If anyone could let me know how i stand that would be great. Thank you!!
