NYU vs Fordham

Either one will do for a Wall Street job.

The answer is both schools will give you a chance at landing a job in NYC, but neither will guarantee you one. A lot will depend on how well you do in the program, how you interview, what you are involved in during your college years (internships, ECs etc.). Nobody is giving you a definitive answer because quite frankly, there is not one.

As suggested above, you can try to talk to the career placement offices at both schools and see if you can get employment statistics by major but unlikely you will get definitive answers there either.

@mom2collegekids can correct me if I’m mistaken, but I believe the answer is neither if the student carries a lot of debt from college. It’s too risky for firms to have people with a lot of debt in charge of other people’s money.

^^^ Yep!

I believe that, statistically, NYU has sent more graduates to Goldman Sachs than any of the Ivies, including Harvard and Yale.

The survey posted above does not break out NYU into the different schools so it might well be that the majority of NYU alumni at Goldman went to Stern for undergrad or a MBA (OP would be College of Arts undergrad). It also does not take into account the type/level of jobs that people had at Goldman.

And yes, if money is an issue than Fordham or NYU may not be the best choice. You will have to see how that part of the equation plays out. I would recommend making a college choices that does not leave you with heaps of debt. If you don’t live in NYC for college that is OK – you have the rest of your live to live/work there.

NYU has a dual degree program for Tisch and Stern and I feel thats what you would need

Schools don’t “send” students anywhere. And a gazillion kids start out wanting WS jobs but don’t end up there, so it’s not a risk worth taking if big loans are needed.

Mom2collegekids knows what she is talking about. So you want to drop $280,000 and you are asking strangers this specific question. Where is your network of Wall Streeters?

But in terms of ROI, Rutgers University — New Brunswick (OP’s State U) and CUNY — Baruch College, comes out way ahead of the other schools.
