@yirinee same! though I am deferred to rd. Did they give you any reason for the deferment?
@mystic101 Not exactly, but I presume that it’s probably due to my homeschooling background, since I am apparently NYU-AD’s first homeschooled applicant. So I think they’re just gathering all the details to make sure they’re making the best decision for the school.
What about you? Did they give you any reason for the deferral? And where are you from?
@yirinee did Shawn tell you that you are NYUAD’s first homeschooled applicant or was it a guess?
@Nateslayer your EC’s are good but your SATs are below average. It would be alright if there is a small difference between your predicted and final scores but if they think the difference is too large you could be put on academic probation. This is how it worked for the previous years (someone correct me if I’m wrong) and of course there is a risk that they might change their policies. Overall you seem to have a descent shot at least for CW.
@13thElvishLord I was able to attend NYU-AD’s University Prep Program, and during an interview with one of the members of the admissions committee, I was informed that I would be their first homeschooled applicant - Shawn just informed me of the deferral, nothing else.
@yirinee ooh I see! If you don’t mind, what is that program about? And is attendance by invitation?
@13thElvishLord The University Prep Program was hosted by NYU-AD at its Saadiyat Campus over a period of 4 days; you basically have to submit a miniature version of the Common App to them to be considered, and then you may be selected to attend the program if they accept you. It was all about college applications to help prospective applicants through this daunting process, with personalized feedback and advice from the NYU-AD admissions committee.
@yirinee when was it? I’m surprised I haven’t ever heard of it. Well…it doesn’t matter the least now xD
@13thElvishLord Haha It was in August this year - it’s mostly for students in the UAE, I believe.
@yirinee oooh I see. No wonder - I was out of country in August. Anyways it doesnt matter the leeeeast now haha
Any ED2 applicants here??
Hi! I submitted my CommonApp Friday 30 Dec, and it says they’ve downloaded it 31 Dec. I havent submitted my CSS PROFILE yet because I’ve read somewhere that it needs our NYUID . Anyone knows when do we get our NYU ID to check on whether all of the documents are okay or not? Is It Albert ID I’ve read people talking about? Thanks!
@alpenlibe The NYU ID they ask for on the CSS PROFILE is for current students resubmitting it for their next academic year. What you’ll need to enter is your Common App ID
@alpenlibe Hey! I submitted it on the same day too. They send an email with ur NetID and university Id within seven days of ur application submission… Once you get the email you have to set up ur nyu account using ur NetID by entering ur university id and birthday and then you can log on and click on the admissions tab and login to ur Albert account to see the progress of your application… About the CSS profile, yeah they require the nyu university id, the deadline for ed2 is Jan 15th so u better hurry once u get the email with your IDs… hope this helps! Looking forward to meeting you at the candidate weekend
@RadiationSpike9 about Albert - yeah that’s right.
About the CSS profile - nope, you do not have to put anything there that has to do with the NetID and they do not ask for the NYU university ID from applicants. It also has nothing to do with any emails they are going to send. I already said said it and please don’t have others misinformed.
@alpenlibe They ask for an ID somewhere towards the end of the profile and even though I don’t remember the exact wording, I think it’s clear enough that you only need to put down NYU ID if you are a returning student (current student applying for FA for your next academic year). As an applicant you need to write your Common App ID which is at the top of the page when you are logged in into Common App.
For now you ll only actually need your Net ID and Albert to access your admissions decision and its uses only really come into play after you get accepted.
Thank youuuu so much, I really appreciate it! Good luck to everyone, I hope we’ll get an invitation to the CW :")
Anytime
Good luck to both of you and hopefully I’ll see you in August!! @alpenlibe @RadiationSpike9
Hi! So I just got my NYUID today, and when I accessed Albert, on the Application Status I found out that they haven’t marked transcript and standardized tests as complete yet, is this normal? On my phone I found both documents on my to-do list, but on pc I found nothing… I tried to disable the pop-up blocker but still nothing. I’m trying not to panic, does this mean my application is incomplete or they just haven’t checked it yet?
Thanks a lot!
Hi! Don’t be afraid! I think maybe more time is required for NYU to upload information due to the large applicants’ pool. But you can also send an email to ask. Good Luck!
The files upload right after the deadline but they don’t update Albert right away. It might take up to 4 weeks for the ticks to appear depending on what test scores you submitted and it’s only been 6 days. Personally, one of my boxes wasn’t ticked until after the CW invites were out. It’s really nothing to worry about. @alpenlibe @Fission
@alpenlibe what test scores did you submit?
