I remember during the election, Obama said that he was going to do things to make college more affordable or at least make it easier to pay for..

What is being done about this? I haven't heard much about it.....

Make FAFSA easier, increase Pell grants, increase grants for com colleges, stop govt funding on private loans, etc.

The american opportunity grants that were enacted last year can provide tax credits of up to $2500. However, Obama was naive to think that anything he or congress could do would make a college education more affordable. The more money the federal government puts into making college more affordable, the less it seems to make a difference. Here’s why. At the state level funding is scarce and any additional money at the federal level is likely to be negated by states cutting back. In additional financial aid packages can take the additional help from the government into account and provide less fin aid. The end result is that a college education doesn’t really become more affordable.
