Hi all,
I was just wondering if a 274/280 in about 18 minutes is good for the Oberlin Conservatory Theory Test? Is that good enough to qualify for the after-accepted placement tests?
Thanks!
Yes and probably if history is any judge.
Are you asking if your score on the online preadmission theory test will exempt you from the post-admission theory test, or exempt you from intro courses in theory? One thing to think about is that every school has its own theory sequence. You might want to consider taking the intro classes anyway. That will be a decision you can make with the guidance of faculty and advisors.
If a sufficiently high score is achieved on the initial theory test is achieved, a succession of theory tests will be given if the applicant is accepted to determine if the admitted student may have the option to not take the first semester of theory. The theory faculty will make a recommendation based on the results of these subsequent tests. Very few students who do well on the initial test even get the option not to take the first semester after taking the first of the second round of tests.
