Hi there! I was recently waitlisted at Oxy, and I’m just wondering if anyone on here has any more knowledge than I do on the waitlist process, or if anyone else is currently in the same situation. So far, I know that they accepted 2400 students for a class of 520, and anticipate that they will be able to accept between 15 and 40 off of the waitlist, based on historic trends of acceptance. I’ve already submitted some additional supplements and updated them on new extracurriculars from this semester, and I’m doing my best to keep contacting them. Mostly, I’m wondering when they start notifying waitlist applicants if and when they accept them, and if they tell you once they’ve filled all their spots in case you aren’t accepted. Occidental is my #1 school, so any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated!
On the letter it said that they would start accepting people off of the waitlist in the first weeks of May. And when I called admissions they said that they go through the entire decision process again to take people off of the waitlist.
Best advice is to be patient and not expect anything. Invest your energy in the school you’ve already committed to. If you get off the Oxy WL, then that’s great. But don’t expect it. WL is a black-box and it’s a device that works to the school’s advantage, not the applicant’s.
Anyone offered admission at Occidental off of the waitlist? Seems that it typically starts in early May.
I haven’t heard anything yet, does anyone know if they’ve started to send responses?
I haven’t heard anything back either.
Has anyone heard anything?
Has anyone heard anything?
The lady at the admissions office said that they haven’t had to use the waitlist at all last week and that it’s highly unlikely that they’re going to go to it because so many students who got in committed. She said if anything it will be this week week but it’s not likely that they will use it.
My mom called the admissions office and confirmed that they will most likely not take anyone off the waitlist. Furthermore they will send out final decisions of Friday.
