October 15 PSAT Discussion

yeah but demagogue means a champion of people's rights or something who makes false promises to get elected, and that doesnt really fit "enraging" his audience, right?

OK, my interpretation of the triangle question (I rushed it, so forgive me if I miscalculated a number). A lot of people said that the perimeter was 32, so idk...

k u take 1 inch off each side of the four outer squares of the cross. that means that they are all 4 inches wide. that's your length and width, 4 and 4. When you take out those 4 squares at the corners of the square in the middle, that makes each extension 1 inch longer, 7, which is the height

but if your cutting it how can it get larger than 6

The last MC math question right before the free response said something about ratio of x to y and ratio of y to z. Did people get the ratio of x to (y+z) as 2 to 7?

you are cutting from the base, which makes the sides longer

i checked. a demagogue is someone who rouses peep's emotions, which is the answer to the question because the speaker rallied up the already passionate people. I guess i got that wrong, i put protagoblablabla whatever it is because i didn't know what that or demagogue meant,

you cut into the base and fold up.

[EDIT] Apparently we're not allowed to discuss it, so I can't say :( Sorry
Please correct me if I'm wrong...

that cutting thing was 446 not 7!

@steven: it was 6 to 7

It was like x/z is 3/2, and something else is another ratio.

I got 6:7, because x:7 is 3:2, y:z is 4:3. If you times each side of the x:y ratio by 2, its 6:4, and y:z is 4:3. So x:y:z is 6:4:3 because if y is 4 z is 3 and x is 6. so x:y+z is 6:3+4 which is 6:7

WHAT THE FFFFFF i thought I only got 2 questions wrong on the math section, but now I think I got 5 wrong... is that like a 690? 680?

The one about demagogue - yeah. It was demagogue. Demagogue means manipulating people through emotional appeal and prejudice. The sentence said "further" inflamed the passions of the angry people so he took advantage of the people's anger to further inflame them.

What do you need to get commended? 200?

im with you steven boi i think it was 4x4x6

im 100% sure it was 7. since you cut the corners of the base, more of the side folds up

hey guys what did you get for the last one of the improving sentences, it was something like:
although he was the better speaker, his opponent presented her views better
i put A, meaning no error but i wasn't sure because the phrasing was a bit awkward (i can't remember the exact phrasing now)

Same... are we allowed to quote? Because I remember it...

[EDIT] Apparently we aren't supposed to discuss the answers, so won't post :( Sorry

It was like Although far more eloquent a speaker or something.

all the other people were wrong the triangle-trapeziod question was 30. the side lengths were 6, 6, 6, and 12 so you were right!!

it was 6:7.

the cube was 6x6x6. but* when you cut off four corners the sides get longer. the base gets smaller.

craft it!

i said "despite him being an eloquent speaker" because despite the fact that he was good speaker, he wasn't a good campaigner. but idk i'm probably wrong i'm debating between that and "although"
