October 15 PSAT Discussion

whats the difference between grubers and barons 2400? i just read the passage then answer the questions.

is this allowed? if so, when can we begin? if not, i'll delete this.

i'm aware we can't do exact quoting, but how about something like "how did you work the one with the _____"?

I"m not sure. I know that some students don't take it until Saturday. I'm sure it would be okay to say what we thought of it in general (it was easy, hard, so so) and what parts were the easiest but maybe not anymore than that.

the saturday test is different than the wednesday test, though.

anyone know whether this is allowed?

i think it is..after west coast has taken it [which they have already] its allowed..and saturday test is different..it doesnt matter! i asked a math question in some other thread..go ahead..its not like its gonna matter now.

Now that I'm thinking about it I realized that I got 2 wrong on the math (rats!) and I'm pretty sure I missed 3 on the CR part (one's that I seconded guessed myself on). I'm so mad at myself... I knew it was too easy to be true. UGH!

Delete this post if it's not allowed—I'm really unsure.

There was one reading question, and it was one of those, "Which of the following term best replaces blah blah?" And the term to be replaced was "cast", and it was used in reference to shadows being cast. I said that "put forth" was the most reasonable replacement. Any thoughts?

wow. I didn't know the Sat tests were different... well then by all means lets talk away!

I know I missed the last math question because of a silly error in the grid ins, and I accidentally left a writing blank. Argghhh!!!

Other than that it went pretty well.

@ zenythz - Yeah, I put the same thing for that question.

math was mad hard!! and for writing,it wasnt bad...i just messed two or three questions....
the reading on the first section was hard... :( but the third section wasnt bad...

@ an0maly: same.

I think I put that too.

And is the PSAT curved? I really hope it is.

I thought the reading paragraphs were the most boring Ive ever seen.
Made me want to kill myself.
I may have gotten a perfect score on math; the questions seemed easier than the practice test.
Hopefully I did well on the grammar; some of them were tricky.
Are we allowed to talk about specific questions?

Wait, do people honestly think the math here was easier than the practice PSAT CB gave this year?! I got a perfect score on the practice test and I thought this math was soo much harder!!

Oh, about the mars passage (SO boring, i was falling asleep), what did you say about the similaries btwn the 2 passages? i was stuck btwn "extended analogy" and "appealing to emotions" or something like that. i think i chose the analogy

what about the one, i think, in the first section, where there was a negative connotation to the word- i had it narrowed down to supercilious and effusive?

i put effusive

specifics anyone???

All-ivy - I chose effusice as well. Ill be honest - I guessed. :)

@ all-ivyacademic: i'm pretty sure it was supercilious. the guy was never __, he was always kind to people. supercilious means haughty, while effusive beens enthusiastic

@all-ivy

Supercilious means arrogant and disdainful, whereas effusive means unrestrained or extravagant. If I'm correct, I believe the answer to that question was supercilious.
