October 2006 - SAT Math Thread

it's probably been explained before but why is the flag one 90?

bees. # @ 10 was same at 30? that was the one question i had to use the calculator on.

also, i got the pyramid problem wrong. i kept using 30-60-90 rooting, but couldn't figure it out.. so i guessed root 3 over two despite knowing it was wrong... ***.

also - **** YES!! SUPERCILIOUS NOT PUGNACIOUS, WOOO. i was so disappointed when i asked all my friends said pugnacious and supercilious was def. wrong. **** YEAHHH IN YO FACE

does anyone remember the question where the 1st term was 1 and each term after was the preceding term multiplied by -2... did anyone get 64 (A0 as an answer?

the answer was -32.. 1, -2, 4, -8, 16, -32<-- 6th term

also.. for the pyramid question... trying to find h.. what was the answer?

i think i got 64 too

umm they said it earlier i thikn m/sqrt(2)

oh, nvm, im remembering wrong. i did put -32 (i think lol)

it was -32. (-2)^(n-1)

Yeah, I got 117, 4.2, but I missed the perimeter one.

is it possible that the pyramid question was experimental for me? i had it on my 3rd math out of 4.

What was this pyramid question I keep reading about?

-The Pyramidless Coot66

Are you guys positive about the WXYZ?

It wasn't XWYZ? And 9540?

It probably was 5940, but I'm hoping it was 9540... I didn't read the question carefully... perhaps...

i am a hundered percent sure it was wxyz, i checked several times, but ***... why would they do that crap.. put it slightly out of order of the alphabet.. pyramid questions was a pyramid asking for an equation for the height, give that the side of the bottom square was "m" and the length of a corner of the pyramid "e"=m

^It was wxyz (alphabetical order)

I am so pumped, I've gotten all the right answers on these hard questions
Crosses fingers for no careless mistakes I had time to check my work, so I think I'm golden

Karch: I too felt the victory of choosing supercilious. I had eliminated it down to that and pugnacious when I remembered a radio show in grand theft auto vice city. A cocky sort of character was described to have a "supercilious manner."

That's right kids, GTA: helping students ace the SAT since 2002

i got 32 not -32

the answer is -32.

The pyramid was not experimental...sorry. I had four writing sections and the pyramid one also.
I got m/sq.root 2
117
1
64
90
-1/2

Some of my answers that collaborate with yours.
foxshox--it was wxyz. I didn't answer that question though.

Does anyone remember the answer to the question talking about how many teachers read both books or something like that??

I think I got 7 but im not sure.

Also what about the one which had like a line segment and gave overlapping lengths and like it said what is a possible length for part of the segment? I think I like randomly guessed 1

what kind of question was the teacher one?? was there a visual part to it? i can't remember it
