October 2009 SAT Critical Reading

For the people who concluded that Section X was the experimental section, how did you arrive at your conclusion?

can ANYONE restate these questions and all the answer choices they remember?
47.women and aristocrat’s social position
50. genius is not specific to a type of people?

also, rigidity of social structures is wrong. it was the mass of received ideas that was the iceberg.

^. I agree with your last statement.

The only other choice that mightve worked for 50 was inherent in some people.

Was about why women aren’t good artisit I think

acted as an impulse is definitely right for sure
The author only states that he and his grandfather took a similar liking toward art, but inheriting the trait does not make sense because he never establishes a definitive relation between his grandfather and him. These words, however, connote a genetic sense, and I think yur suppose to interpret in as if he inherited the genotype for art, which would be really odd and presumably impossible

D does not work because if he were compelled to take multiple classes then he would not have done it at the last minute. Also, it is only for one particular class, and thus you cannot assume this to be collective.

the “squandering” one.
that was right…RIGHT?

I agree with chair2 on the rigidity of social structure being wrong. That is overanalyzing it and being too specific.

Napping:
Something about how passage 1 said that the family though napping is for lazy people but the expert in passage 2 would say that it is a biological necessity or something along those words.

Agree with the people who said rigidity was the incorrect answer.

Completely agree about the mass of receiving ideas and misconceptions being right.

PLEASE RESPOND!
my friend said that he got 12 wrong on the critical reading, 3 wrong on the Writing, and two wrong on the Math. (he said his essay was a 10 or so.

what score would he get? Show the grade for each section pleaz

i think the choice about the biological necessity is something like human pattern?

Andromeda is right

Game over- are you and your friend the same person?

750w 760m. 650 r

Squandering was definitely right. The grandfather reason is wrong. It is impulse because it was decided at “last minute.” I got that one wrong. Arghhhhhh.

Geologist:

Something about why the author lists examples of the things he saw on the atlas. Can’t remember completely…

to show why the book was so interesting, sorry I don’t remember the exact answer but it was A

Yes at crlee, human patterns.

Crlee. I just wanna say thanks for doing this

game over noobs:

12 wrong on CR is a deduction of 15 off of the raw score, so probably 660ish.
3 wrong on W with 10 essay is probably 730ish.
2 wrong on M is probably 760ish.

Okay no one is answering my question on how to determine which section is experimental.

^Different people have different experimental. If I have math experimental I can’t possibly have CR experimental. So whatever passages I read are the “real” passages.
