October 2009 SAT Critical Reading

redundancy and frustrations was the sentence were the woman said “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.”

39 - something with stereotypes. I was pretty sure was right but dont remember the answers.
40 - definitely NOT rural life - she had nothing against rural life, she was mocking the biographers
41 - Wry and I’m pretty sure (if it means the same as ironic). I thought about ironic when I read it and then I was just looking for the most similar answer.
42 - I picked the admiration, but not sure. It was either that or the finding.

Do you remember other answers? I think I picked the frustrations, but unsure about it.

I knowabout two mistakes so far - polymath and surprised (picked different answers) and I missed one - hobble.

49 - I put E (I think) - the asnwer with the “mass” - tip of the iceberg means imo that there are many such presumption, but she’ll talk only about some of them.

what questions had satellite and hobble?

what was the question for full time endeavor, does anyone remember?

“this boy knows more than I do”

if you read that line by itself, which is what the question asked, admiration is very clear.
Discovery is much less clear. I would agree that discovery has merit in the context of the whole story but the question asked what is the last statement itself is analogous to. And besides, Michalangalo was an art student already! Who’s to say that this was the first time he had painted something that impressive? Admiration works either way.

what title did you choose for the passage about the Guru?

^

the feast. for sure.

@ pynne - full-time endeavor was asking why there werent women genius artists (it would take too much time b/c they had too do womanly things like run a family)

@ stix - wow, im surprised ppl are still debating that one. to me it seemed so obvious that it was admiration

“The feast before us” was the title cus the whole thing was about the present

if someone had CR experimental, do you which section it was?
i had:
section 2 (25 quesitons i think)
section 3 (23 questions i think)
section 6/7 (24 questions)

For the question with specific…eclectic there was another answer that seemed plausible. I think it was dominant … ? Did anyone put that because the question said drew “liberally” from different genres therefore it did not have a “dominant” genre as the critics suggested. I can’t remember the second word though.

@ FInal - im pretty sure eclectic one was right. said that you couldnt classify the book as specific genre because it took on so many genres - it was eclectic (made up of variety)

ah i just thought of the second word - derivative. Could this have worked because the book was influenced by many different genres. This question seemed so confusing because specific and eclectic seemed too easy, ya know?

i know, but you have to go w/ the one that makes sense - im prettty sure derivative means unoriginal, not like in calculus where it is derived from other things. it has a negative connotation

My updte - what do I thnk was rigth
