October 2010 - Biology E/M

@worldcup10
How are you taking it tomorrow? Where is it being offered?

@DancinggBear
Can you give more details about the question?

Secretion I believe because exocytocis involves removal of things

Wow.

Looking over these posts makes me want to cry and cry HARD.

Like most people, I went in thinking, “Hmm… I’ll do Ecology. I scored higher on it than Molecular on the practice tests.” But I also did a few Ecology questions, got scared, and quickly flipped to Molecular after wasting fifteen minutes for questions to which I erased my highly iffy answers.

I studied day and night for who knows how many days for this test, and my reviews and knowledge didn’t even cut some questions, so you can see why this is really killing me. Plus, this is my SECOND try at biology-M (710 on the first), and my answers do NOT compare to what some of you guys posted. Maybe this really isn’t my subject…

I finally finished the test, but then saw the five questions I circled and rushed to them to see what I could answer. Guess what happened next? My proctor called time. There was no announcement for “10 minutes left” or “5 minutes left.” I wasn’t even aware of the time, so when he said pencils down, I was shocked, to say the least. I left the test center so miserable, even though the sun was out, the birds were chirping, and my mom was expecting me to say that it went great.

^ Thats why I always bring a watch with me.

^ same here :(

@lordofcenturies
pancreas secretes insulin and glucagon via exocytosis.

@wander It was the question with the picture of the nephron + loop of henly + glomerelus, and it gave u the little chart with the amount of content in each area. ie: urea was like 118 in urine there was no glucose in the urine, there was glucose in the glomerelus, and there was glucose in the blood vessals, then from that it says which of these options are supported by that data.

@DancinggBear

Oh, yes, I do remember that question. If you could tell me the answer choices, I would be able to tell you, lol.

Yup, I did bring a watch, but he said, “Don’t follow your time. Follow MY time since I’ll tell you when the test ends.” Uggh, I should have looked at my watch.

@DancinggBear: I chose the answer that said glucose is reabsorbed into the bloodstream (or something similar to that).

Well one choice was like glucose is re-used as atp

but the one i chose was that the glucose is absorbed and the veins carry it away or something like that…

^ I agree with kuroxramen.

Awesome, i got that too!

edit: for the first set of questions, was the iodine hormone related to the thyroid? and the follicle related to the pituitary?

@DancinggBear

Yes, and yes.

edit: also what was the coffee question with the diaretic?

ughhhh i think i got at least 6 wrong.
umm for the clam one did the black ink reach the stomach first?
and also for the miller urey experiment, was it “this would only support (insert person’s name here)'s hypothesis if it was assumed that conditions were same”? or something? and also what was the answer to the first question about hte experiment? I II III IV or V? lol i totally guessed on that one and put II

@DancinggBear
centromere

@ifailatsats
No idea about the clam, that’s why I erased all my answers and went to Molecular :wink:
I wouldn’t know about the Miller Urey experiment since I didn’t read it either.

idk what problem you’re taking about but a telomere is like the stuff at the end of chromosomes and the centromere is the middle

lol ughhhhhhhhh i had like 10 more minutes and im like oh goodness screw it im just gonna bs my way through E. .
btw what was the placenta one? “choose which is false”

also what was the coffee question with the diaretic?
