November 2010 - Biology (E/M)

What'd you guys think ?

Honestly, I thought it was easier than I expected…Was it ok to look at both the ecology, and molecular questions before choosing E or M? …I did, and chose M because it looked easier…

Well i thought Bio was pretty good.
Honestly i went into the exam 80% sure i’d choose E, but i skimmed through it and thought it was kinda tough… M went well, save 1 or 2 questions!

Exactly, i had no intentions of M at first

Shouldn’t we wait another hour for the PST people to take it first?

god for those who want to get at least a 700+ i advise you not to use princeton review
There was so much material that i did not recognize because it wasnt covered in the book. ex(the eye)

btw what would 3 omits and 2 wrongs be around?

Probably still an 800, but Jesus that eye--------omg I just guessed completely.
Any answers?

The eye part was pretty easy though. Like the Sparknotes book I read didn’t cover it directly, but you could infer from the diagram. The only question I skipped was the one on PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) because I had no idea what that was.

I actuallly agree, I thought much of it was pretty much obvious from the diagram.
I remember a couple of questions catching me off guard—the one about the hair bristles cuticles and skin. Maybe it was just stupid though.

Do you know what the standard curve is ? Because for the Sparknotes tests, you could only leave one blank to get an 800.

i had trouble with the PCR question too. Totally forgot wether it was used for cutting or attaching

OMG, what are the answers for the bristles, hair, epidermis… I was totally confused.
PCR is used to duplicate DNA to have a sufficient amount of DNA to test.

what about the layer of plant low the loss of water (i dont remeber exactly)

@Biology24, cuticle prevents water loss.

goldnano, guard cells are the gas exchange thing.
Epidermis is the thing that keeps water in.
Hair is for the wind and temperature thing.
I forgot the last one.

Cashguy. YEAH!
Thats what I was missing.
Cuticle is one of the answers.

what was the covering that all vertabrae have? or something… i put epidermis.

I think I put that too nritya

cuticle keeps water in, not epidermis. from wikipedia (totally reliable, i know): “The cuticle reduces water loss to the atmosphere”

yea thats what i meant. i got confused
