October 2010 CR SAT Thread

@Viggyram i put probably didn’t occur because there was no supporting evidence.
^ that’s what I put, thanks

about the plausible theory, plausible theory is very different from ‘probably did happen’.

@lonely, the other choice was 'definitely did not occur due to no historical documentation"

it was probably… I know I was deciding between two probably nots

^yea, I mean, didn’t the beginning intro. say something about ‘this guy doesn’t believe it’

I put inevitable instead of undesirable
ok so far I have 3 wrong >_>

-4 is likely to result in 750 or better. -5 may not, but this test wasn’t exactly easy, so there may be a nice curve

@clouder… what do you mean misbubble? skip one question and forget to skip on the answer sheet?

omg you can’t believe how paranoid I was I was going to do that. I was like every two questions check I’m on the right question, and then go over it twice making sure they match.

oh yea, ‘probably did not occur because there is absolutely no evidence’

I chose against that one because it seemed to strong.

And that guy (name starts with a T.) had evidence, even though it wasn’t concrete…like it was subpar evidence, but it was still something.

does anybody have any concrete proof/evidence for “probably did occur” answer? besides the fact that the ending contained a hopeful tone?

If only someone can find the last part of that passage and post a link to it.

@lonely i put the same choice as you did (probably didn’t, because there was no supporting evidence)

And the choice with the word “introduction” is different from the one that said “reflects writing styles”.

^ yes lonelywayfarer, I think I might have done that!! :o
I think collegeboard might regrade it though
HOPEFULLY I just didn’t get the “both are extinct” answer and put something else. I think that may be it

If you insert recurring into the sentence, it wouldn’t make much sense, and it’s not synonymous to uniform. The best choice for that was unanimous

**And the choice with the word “introduction” is different from the one that said “reflects writing styles”. **

then what was the question for “introduction”??

@user2134, yes I do remember an answer choice that was like “focusing on thoughts”… I put that one

I remember a SC with “face” as one of the answer; it was about facing challenges

I also remember putting down “reflection of writing” and “anecdote as introduction” for TWO separate questions.

Can someone confirm these, so we can maybe add them to the list?

How can you put “probably did not happen” when the entire passage was proving the point that some events don’t need historical documentation to be accepted as true? The last paragraph contained something that said it has not been disproven. This all supports “probably did occur”.

^yea, I mean, didn’t the beginning intro. say something about ‘this guy doesn’t believe it’

sorry, don’t remember that part
but I’m pretty sure “plausible theory” refers to the part in which the author said “t-guy had a perfect theory on how it /could/ have happened, but based the fact that it happened out of homer”

-4 is likely to result in 750 or better. -5 may not
^ last time I got 740 with -3. I’m guessing we’re expecting a better curve this time then?

please explain “anecdote with introduction”??

@cornetking222

“some events don’t need historical documentation to be accepted as true”
^ I think you misread the passage imo
the author was saying that people /did/ accept it as true w/o documentation, but that that was a /bad thing/.

When did you take the test? That must have been a really harsh curve.

one of my classmates got a 650 with a -11 on a previous test
So -3~5 should be 720-760s still
Unless the curve is harsh this time

last time I got 740 with -3

thats unusually harsh
