OCTOBER 2010 - FRENCH test thread

I just did the test this morning, anyone know some questions that are right or wrong so i know how many things i did wrong ?

1 question i remember was this ad for a store and the question was something about what does this ad invite or something like that and i doubted between 2 answers : a) to visit the store. b) to buy furniture.

another one from the reading: something about who eats the most bread (answer in text was agriculteurs) and in the multiple choice the answer was Cultiveurs.

another from reading about this woman singing, and i think the answer choices were paroles, murmures, etc. i guessed paroles idk tho...

Remember any more? together we can reconstruct the test and figure out WHAT UR SCORE IS!!! :)

Oh and there was this louis vuitton text ! first answer: UNE MONTRE. second: i dont remember…

also this question dont remember which one but answer choices were: des que, pourve que,… i chose des que…

and one more about who builds these houses (reading) i wrote a une compagnie renomm

Comon guys im stressing

Hey, what did you guys think of the french subject test today? How do you think the curve will be?

Because, I thought it was kinda hard.

I thought it was really hard too! much harder then the barrons practice tests!!!
did you read what i wrote above? what do you think the answers are?
do u remember any questions?

The correct answer to the question you listed above was “to visit the store”.

I actually didn’t find today’s test to be very hard. It was pretty reasonable tbh. And I agree with the rest of your answers.

I thought it was significantly harder than all of the practice tests. Hopefully the curve is generous. I agree with all of you answers ivy.

Lol wow. Is it a bad sign that I found it reasonable then, since all of you are complaining about it? :p

Haha you could just be better than us :p…Did you not find it harder than the PTs though fledgling?

Well, compared to the practice test in the blue book this one was definitely more challenging. But it still wasn’t that bad (at least not for me). :p

Very hard. And I got a 5 on the AP…
“Montre” is correct.
“Too visit the store is correct.”

What I had trouble was the Part B and the passage where it talks about The Municpal Garden/Singing/Whatever…

I forgot the questions on part B that I had trouble with but I remember some of the answer choices:

Des Que, Pourvu Que, Si

Viendra, Sera Ici

^ “Des que” and “viendra” were correct.

Wow, I think I put Si/Sera Ici…

^ “Si” was incorrect, because it, along with two other answer choices (“pourvu que” and “a condition que”), required the use of the conditional when the sentence didn’t require it. Therefore the only correct choice was “des que”.

I don’t remember my reasoning behind “sera ici” though. Something about “sera” being something definite that would certainly happen in the future, whereas in the context of the sentence it didn’t seem like that…

Yeah, I think I did put “des que”, but I definitely put “sera ici”. It just sounded right to me. It was something like this: blah blah blah will _________ by next wednesday?

^ No, the sentence was “Je doute qu’il _______ avant mardi”. So since it involved doubt, and “sera” seemed more definite, I went with “viendra”.

Though in retrospect, perhaps “sera” also makes sense. I could be wrong.

I didn’t take this particular test, but I swear that “je doute que” takes the subjunctive.

^ That’s what I had originally thought too, but I didn’t see a subjunctive listed among the possible answer choices…

Hmm, if there isn’t subjunctive, it seems like a futur anterieur (so, il sera venu). As in, “I doubt he will have arrived before Tuesday.”
