^Woah! Didn’t you create the thread and I believe you are a senior! SO MAJOR HYPOCRISY FROM YOUR SIDE!

We are discussing our SAT because we are masochists and we like rambling and ranting and most important of all KNOW OUR MISTAKES…

@MajorQuest: Hypocrisy mixed with sarcasm is what I excel in

This wait neeeds to be over like now. Honestly, it is SO nerve-wrecking.

Btw, not to be ask pointless and obsolete questions, but does anyone remember the wording for the manuscript question? The one you guys got 13 1/2 as a result for?

^ yah I second the question about the wording on the manuscript one cuz I also don’t understand it…

when is the soonest I can get my scores? was section 6 the experimental one for writing for sure?

I have decided to clarify some doubt on your answers:

The correct answer to the beetles question Sentence Completion question is “indigenous . . encountered”.

For the Japanese-American personal narrative regarding her family’s visit to her mother’s old home:

The reference to the marigolds’ smell indicates that the woman was embarrassed about an unfortunate incident in her past.

For the long passage regarding the narrator’s support of natural decomposition in gardening:

Charlie’s actions indicate that he was “playfully skeptical”

The author would most likely characterize Charlie as “friendly yet frustrating”

The purpose of the passage was to emphasize the importance of natural decomposition

Actually, the woman speaking to the children because she was comfortable with them is INCORRECT. I presume you chose that solution because the Japanese woman indicated that she was offended by the narrator’s mother’s statements regarding the lacquered box.

The correct solution should include “embarassment about an unfortunate event in her past.”

The explanation is the following:

The original line reference included the woman’s expression that when she first came to the US from Japan, she had to work in the tomato fields, which smelled like the marigolds. Now she couldn’t stand that smell (indicating that she associated the smell with something negative in her past). The narrator then thinks that she herself loves the smell of marigolds, and what could have possibly happened to cause someone to hate them (indicating again that there was something in the woman’s past that caused her to dislike the smell of marigolds).

As the woman expresses a negative attitude toward the marigolds because of a past incident, we can infer that the past incident was something negative. If a person expresses a negative attitude toward his/her own experience or characteristic, such an attitude is properly termed “shame” or “embarrassment.”

@readingace: I agree with everything in your first post but I completely diagree with your second one.

You are mixing two questions up:

The question why didn’t the lady like marigold was because it brought back bad memories from her past…

But the question why did she prefer talking to the children rather than parents was because she was more comfortable with them. The incident with the box clearly had a word (I can’t refer the specifics but had checked while circling it) describing her uncomfortableness with the mother when she said the box was hers.

@the manuscript Q: A writer completes half of a manuscript at the rate of 20 pages per hour while he completes the latter half at the rate of 10 pages per hour. What is the rate of his typing for the whole manuscript. (Paraphrased but this was the essence of it)

I completely agree with MajorQuest. The explanation readinggace gives for the answer “embarrasment about an unfortunate event in her past.” is a perfect explanation but for another question, one asking about the experience with marigold.

As MajorQuest says, there was a completely separate question refering to why she spoke to the children. This WAS due to, in my opinion, her being more comfortable with them.

Does anyone remember a writing question with two posible answers:

A) When traveling to Ireland, [i did this and that, the smog something]

B) When I traveled to Ireland, [i did this and that, the smog something]

Is everyone sure section 6 was the expermiental? not section 2?

OH!!! SUPER HARD QUESTION!!!

What did robert frost mean by the whole “single spot in the top of a high tower”?!?!?!
does anyone remember any questions/answers for that passage?!?!

Yeah, if you need some hint, you can check my comment on page 31 in this thread, the answer for your question is “confirm the interviewer’s prediction” or something like that

it means something like only one person can be the best in a field, so it’s a “cutthroat competition.” hence the interviewer’s assumptions about frost were correct.

Is there any question that has ‘lack of internal coherency’ as its choice?
The one from the political belief system passage?
