November 2011 - International SAT

This thread is ONLY meant for the discussion of the questions and answers on the International SAT!

Good paper, I guess. Writing wasn't as good; maybe because I got an experimental writing.

EDIT: Looks like the US guys have started discussing questions, so I think that we can too.

Overall the test was good, not hard and not easy just good.

I also had a writing experimental

Ah nice! Which one do you reckon was the experimental? Section 2 or Section 6?

Do a remember a writing passage section about finding treasures on the beach? Or was it the other one?

Anyways, I found Math easy. Got two 8’s in the free-responses. CR was surprisingly … good :)

Math was easy, definitely! So you know what that means the curve is gonna be harsh prob -1= 770 :frowning:

Cr was good except for the passage in the last CR section…ooh how i hated it. I could not muster any amount of interest in such a boring topic.

I think the first writing section is experimental

Yes. The Math curve’s going to be really harsh.

Haha the Politics one? I actually liked that one  Because the subject matter interested me.

Peanut guy hahaha. I think the uses-of-peanuts one was better rather than the beach-treasure one.

Which essay did you get? I filled up two whole pages and we all know (or others on CC) say that length of essay is directly proportional to the score. Oh well.

It’s surprising no other internationals are discussing the test

FYI this test was the October 2010 international test - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1011254-october-2010-international-sat-2.html

I know. But their thread doesn’t have all the answers and such stuff :p

And it’s more fun to have one’s own perspective on things :D

hahaha true! where are the other international students "/ ? we cannot be the only two who took it today lol

I took it today!
CR was definitely the hardest part. The last section…meh. Boring.

Writing was doable, math was freaking easy. Also got 2 8s in the math grid in.

Hoping and praying for a 2300+

What if we are?
hahahaha :D

So, what are the other questions you remember?

The typist one? 13.333333?

Me too :o
[10 char]

Typist? Which one?

Math Section? Last question. I am sure it wasn’t an experimental section. The typist writes half a report at 10 pages/day and the other half at 20 pages/day.

^the one about the average rate for the books.

Also got two 8’s and 13.3333 for that one.

Hoping for a 2100+

Err… For example, it takes 2 days for the first half, 2 days for the second.

So, 20 pages+40pages
=60 pages

60/4 = 15

Nooooo.
Suppose the document’s length is 2x.
Therefore, x is completed at the rate of 10 pages/day.
therefore, it is completed in x/10 days.
Similarly, other x part is completed in x/20 days.

So … total time taken = x/10 + x/20 = 3x/20 days

Now, average rate = total length/total time = 2x/(3x/20) = 40/3 = 13.3333

****? I stand corrected.

So, any other questions you would like to discuss?

The funny thing was that when i saw 15 i thought: it can’t be this simple. Oh well, i guess i can still hope that -1 = 800 :P

Haha I did the same thing. Saw the 15 and thought that it couldn’t be that simple, being the last question. So I did some math and arrived at 40/3 which was the same as 13 1/3, so it’s good :)
