October 2010 Math SAT Thread

thepal, What is the difference, in money, between the month that had the highest volume and the lowest volume.

@Thepal: N(x) = -2x + 30, where N is the units sold in thousands, and x is the price of one unit. In July, each unit was $14, and in August, each unit was $10. And then I think it just asked for a true statement? (Not sure). But the answer was 8000 fewer units sold in July.

@jolley, i think 3 was answer choice c

and the last one I put answer chocie E

Can anyone confirm???

Was section 4 ,if you got 2 math sections back to back, experimental?

jolly,
a/b => 3 was choice C.
x^2 = 3/5y^2 => yeah E.

was the july units sold question a grid-in or MC?

it was a mc question which I believe the answer was D

ok thanks, i really want a 800 and i dont remember putting 8000 for any grid-in. btw the dice question is 1/54, talk about other questions now

so was the answer to that one : 1/108 or 1/54??

seriously the answer is 1/54 stop asking !!!

The problem, I think it was seven, where it gave u a picture of triangle ABC one side was 8 one side was 12 and From left to right there was a line that went through the triangle and into the midpoints of each side. The bottom was 10, and you had to find the perimiter of the top triangle it formed. I have a bad feeling the answer was 15, but I answered 13

Wasn’t the x^2>3/5y^2 choice D? And choice E was the same, but with a < sign?

1/54 or 1/108

^The answer is: Doesn’t matter.

Laerties, its 15, because 4+5+6

what was the question for the fill in where the answer was 25?

Guys!

Do you think because theres so much controversy with the dice question that they will omit it???

E-mailed my brilliant Asian math teacher concerning the die problem. Let’s see what he says.

Just thought of another question, where the sum of the areas of two congruent squares was 50.

Also can somebody say what the answer was for the x^2>3/5y^2? A lot of people are saying E, was that with the same sign, or the flipped sign?

the answer is 54. I got it wrong because I divided 108 by 4. Was 1/27 an option? I feel like an idiot.

same sign.

5y^2/3 (E) I believe is the right answer
