October 2010 Writing SAT thread

Yeah I bubble the reason is its as an error and I only got one no error.

Yeah, there was a lack of no errors…

Like I said, I did use the word doucebag! Proud of myself)

The reason one I put “its” was incorrect. You have to say because its or whatever. Crap the last one was “Ultimately” I put “nevertheless” because I had 5 seconds to answer so I only read the first one and it kind of made sense so I put it -____-. I was hoping to only miss 3 on the writing but I’m not sure anymore.

i got like 4 no errors in the 10 minute writing section

It is the second one that begins with running
bc you have to compare the phrase "running outdoors’
to “running on a treadmill” not “when running on a treadmill”

atleast thats what i thought

Examples I used:

My school never cut music even with the budget cuts of NJ (a lie)
1984 for what happens when art forms are taken away
How society benefits from individuality, progressive era, industrial revolution

For one of the Identify sentence errors question, it was something liek:
since… plus being surrounded by Italy, people are unaware of this town.

is plus being right or wrong??

What about the “the company maintains… while still making profit” one?

Alleviate- the reason…is because is a redundant phrase. I eliminated that choice

For one of the Identify sentence errors question, it was something liek:
since… plus being surrounded by Italy, people are unaware of this town.

is plus being right or wrong??

wootSAT- pretty sure plus being wouldnt be right

I think “while still making” was supposed to be underlined.

Plus was supposed to be underlined for that Italy q.

not only because… but also because it can -did anyone else get that as an answer?

"The reason, …, its …
I put “its” as the incorrect choice because shouldn’t it have been “because of its”

What you perceive as correct is actually nonstandard. ‘The reason is… THAT’ is proper in SE, but the word ‘that’ is often extraneous, as it was in the sentence.

is there a concensus about the answer to the treadmill question posted above?

“the company maintains… while still making profit” one?

While still making profit was the error. There was no “and” between the two previous clauses, which is necessary in order to use “while still.”

well isnt making a gerund? so “and” is not necessary??

I put “plus being” and “while still making profit” as well. Wait so what was the answer to the “reason…its” one? Was it no error? I circled “its”

there was one error id about women and like writings about their lives, anyone remember what that one was.
