October 2012 Writing

Don’t remember the wording exactly, but it talked about how two chancellors got degrees in science before going into politics.

Ok, that one was “no error”… Do you remeber what the other “no error” question was?

What was the answer to the last question in the writing section 10, the Law codes and Louisiana. Was it Whereas or However?

i thought the question immediately following the chancellor one was also no error. that really alarmed me.

@Bhutan I put whereas because however means there needs to be a semicolon

I had four no errors:

 1. Angela Merkel
 2. Cuttlefish
 3. western/ country singers
 4. 24… can’t remember wat it was

for western singes, i remember changing “one of” to “some of” because it is plural. that right?

^ Yeah, “one of” was the error.

Gah, writing’s really stressing me out. At least my essay was somewhat decent…

Indeed one of. It was something like Western country singers are now considered SOME OF the most commercially blahblah

i thought one of was the error too, but ‘Western’ categorizes musicians and singers to one type, so one of can be used. no error ):

for #32 (the sentence about the “machines were used exclusively in private industry…” in the paragraph revision, was the answer the one with Carrier’s device or the devices?

It wasn’t until 1982, (description with present tense verbs), when X became widespread.

Someone mentioned that the answer is “when.” I don’t think that’s correct. I inititially put ‘when’ because ‘did’ sounds like a better replacement, but then it didn’t sound right. It wasn’t until… DID X became??? That can’t be true. If it is ‘did,’ shouldn’t ‘became’ be ‘become’? and if ‘became’ was wrong, that doesn’t make sense with the specified date (1982).

Therefore, I put ‘no error.’

Thoughts, please?

thats so false about the western singers… where is your evidence that an adjective can put them into one category?

@Flickor
“The one about evidence…was it includes or include?”

I put include but I DON’T KNOW! IS EVIDENCE SINGULAR OR PLURAL?

what did you guys put for the last one in the long writing section- what would be a good way to end the passage?

I put the choice about how people today don’t care until it breaks.

on number 11, for the first writing section. the sentence was a comparison one, something to do with, a thing making energy more quicker. was it answer E? something like than that _____

It was either than that of the opposite direction or than that expended in the opposite direction. I chose the latter

Did anyone else choose “had begun” as an error in one of them?

at running pop, it is propably than that expended because the first one, ur comparing the amount of energy to the energy itself which is wrong, YAY

i put than that expended in the opposite direction. the musician one had an error.

what did people put for the 100 year old building getting demolished. I was between a) Though it was gonna be demolished, the 100 year old builiding moved & b) Though the 100 year old building was gonna be demolished, it was moved?

Thoughts? aaah writing is stressing me outt
