***October 2016 ACT Thread***

First time taking the ACTs tomorrow. Kind of anxious, and I dont know if I’m ready or not. I studied a lot, done a lot of practice tests, but I am no truly sure of my abilities until tomorrow’s test. Guess we’ll just wait and see :slight_smile: Good luck to everyone else tomorrow!

First-timer here. I’m hoping that the considerable amount of prep I’ve done will have been worth it. It’s looking like the ACT is more of “my test” than the SAT was. I have little doubt that the majority of you will excel.

Does anyone know why the first scores will not be released until 11/8 (per ACT.org)?

My son has taken the ACT several times, and scores have always been released 10-11 days after the test, which would mean the scores for this sitting would be released 11/1-11/2, instead of 11/8.

@uwalummom I wish I had the answer; I’ve been wondering the same thing. Pretty peculiar.

taking my third and final test tomorrow, aiming for at least a 31

horrible!

This test was faaar easyyy from the September Test…imo…from India…

Ktgisgreat, I sure hope you’re right!!

Was this your second try? If so, maybe you were just better prepared, or less nervous because you have already taken it. Why did you find it easier? Did you find certain sections easier than the September test?

@LV98xx
did you take it? please tell me I wasn’t the only one who found reading super hard

@marinaxiv dude for some reason i found everything hard except english ugh i guessed some answers in reading bc ran outta time took it for the first time guess ill have to take the sat in dec im more of an sat person

@LV98xx i’m overall more of an act person (i hate sat math with all my heart, on act math pretty sure i only had a problem on 1 question) but idk i’m just hoping they adjust the curve by a lot lol

@marinaxiv it sounds like you have taken the act before this sitting? Were you stronger in math than reading and English on the previous try?

@Meant2B i actually haven’t taken it before, but i took a lot of practice tests this past week and i would always get 34-36 in english and math, usually 32-33 in reading, and 32-35 in science. in sat i had 750 in english and 670 in math, which i don’t think is an accurate representation of my math skills, but of my english/reading skills it is. this is why i did not expect reading on the act to go this badly. the english section was easy, fortunately.

@Meant2B yes, it was my second time…I had 31C on September ACT …IMA hoping for 32-33C this time…yes I did work hard but only on reading section because it had damaged my composite last time…I got only a 24 on reading last time…expecting 30R this time…and I was less nervous…but hey, Sciences section was easiest of all times…I literally completed it within 25 minutes…it always took me 32-34-35 minutes on practice tests

@Meant2B best of luck!

I find NEW SAT strikingly similar to ACT…

Always amazes me how vastly different opinions can be of each test’s difficulty. As different as people are I guess!

Thanks @Ktgisgreat, my child is taking as we post! Interesting that you feel the new sat is so similar, I do think that was the goal of the change. It may be worth taking once, if ACT is not what S hopes.

Fingers crossed! Best of luck to all!!

Well if that wasn’t the most brutal math section I’ve ever encountered…

THAT WAS HARD
