For the infinite solutions question:

the equations have to be equal. the equations looked something like this:

3x + 2y = 6
6x + 4y = 3a

You have to multiply the top equation by 2 first, to get 6x + 4y = 12. Which means 3a = 12; a = 4.

I know that equation is wrong, but the same steps are there.

^^Agree (10 char)

yeah i agree too

does anyone remember the answer to wall & ceiling problem?

Ceiling Wall Problem

was the answer 674?

2(1310) + 2(139) + 2(9*10)

^^^

correct.

can’t believe I still remember it so vividly haha

ok ive read two or thee post o the sqrt58 problem.

what is the right answer lol. 3 over sqrt58 or 7 over

It’s 7 over. The sides were 3 (the opposite side of angle A), 7 (adjacent of angle A) and the hypotenuse, sqrt(58). The cosine of angle A (the smallest), would be adjacent, which is 7, over hypotenuse, which is sqrt(58).

3/sqrt(58) would be the sine of the smallest angle, not cosine.

wowowowowow. another dumb mistake.

Missed three so far. all of which i knew how to do… (Comparing the volumes of the cylinders, the fan question, this 7/sqrt(58) question)

Sigh.

was that one c or a

i know it was one or the other
i chose c im pretty sure it was right

yeah i think i put C too

no the room ceiling, wall problem was NOT 674. If you clearly read the question, it asked what was the painted area of just “the walls”- walls dont include ceiling or floor. i think the area was like 5XX

Actually it did talk about ceiling and floor…I remember reading it and going “eh, who would paint the ceiling and floor” but it was there.

i agree with xlostinwords.

i’m pretty sure it said ceiling and floor… and almost everyone agrees.

yeah it was defintely including ceiling and floor

how? it said walls and why would you want to paint your floor ? common sense!

act doesnt test common sense

i excluded the ceiling because i thought it said not to count that. but most people on cc are saying floor and ceiling…-cries-

Ok iambored10… why would i ever want to know how many lines i can draw between four points? Or why would someone calculate how many degrees a blade is moving when it is moved to the place of the next blade’s position?

the test has nothing to do with real life applications/common sense… it’s about what they ask…
