I put redemptive and recuperative, sustained tradition, and heritage.

chinnu, it was "unambiguous fact" while the one corresponding to facetious was "earnest assertion"

Funny how each question is supposed to take no more than like 1 minute, yet we've spent quite a deal more time COLLABORATING on it. I hope I was right.

but why is it unambiguous... wouldn't some people agree that the candy making industry is not as extreme as he makes it out to be

also, redemptive and recuperative were part of the question, not the answer, weren't they?

yeah what were the answers to both of them

I'm 100% sure the answer was facetious/earnest. The exclamatory phrases were not meant to be taken seriously at all (facetious), and the guy was expressing his viewpoint - there was nothing "fact" about it.

"put redemptive and recuperative"

that was the question....

for the answer i put E, something that began with healing

u know what would have been a perfect answer
flowery language/earnest assertion

yeah I put healing also, but I can't remember what the question was.

the paragraph is the author's opinion...so i don't think it can be "unambiguous fact"

but flowery does sound better than facetious

do u guys remember any other choices for that redemption question

Can anyone think of questions from the passage about history? I bombed that one but I can't seem to recall any of the questions -_-

lol chinnu, i completely agree...let's sue collegeboard

opqpop there was one queston with answer choices dubious and scholarly detachment in it. i didnt pick it. but i picked E for that quesiton

yeah, that's why i picked facetious. can we come to a conclusion about that one because it's really bothering me!!!

also i put healing for the redemption one

i remember i also briefly considered scholarly detachment but didn't pick it. can't remember the other choices either....

what was the absence question about photos or something?

i second the facetious/earnest answer...i put that for the same reasons said above

opqpop, yea I agree.. that historian crap is really bothering me

chinnu, do you remember the question?

I don't remember anything from the historian passage... help? Questions + Answer choices?

Or maybe just what the 2 passages were talking about?

Is it really just opinion, though. I think that the author used unambiguous facts to support his or her thesis. Whether or not the candy factories operate much like other (less attractive) industries is not so much a matter of opinion as it is debatable.

That said, I'm leaning towards facetious. I wish I'd known what that meant during the test.
