October 6 SAT CR passages

Well then I definitely put healing then. It associated with recuperating. :D

the question was how author would feel about the historical books/(something of that nature).
again one of the choices had dubious and scholarly detachemnt
i think i put E forgot what it was

yeah can we talk about the historian question

i remember there was one about gaping and one about the number of books that appeared during or after WWI

what did u guys put for the one about author 2's response to WWI books in passage 1
and gaping public vulnerability to persuasion or something of that nature.

number of books that appeared during or after WWI

What was the answer to that?

ORACLE OR CHARLATAN?!!!

i put charlatan because he didn't actually believe that they could predict the future

i put oracle
but the consensus is charlatan

I put charlatan because it said implied, but now I think it was oracle.

yeah i put oracle at first, but he didn't BELIEVE they were... i think...

i thought he said something like

"some people believe they have a 6th sense."

it asked what he considered to be the "people"

you could tell he was skeptical because of his line that siad "then why don't they go play the stock market and become rich" - def not the exact words but similar meaning

Definitely "charlatan." He was totally mocking the parapsychologists! Wasn't "sardonic" also a choice for another MC question on the same passage?

Also, for the "wi*l" one, I was confused because I thought wil and nostalgic were too similar, so I ended up choosing "reserved." Is it really wi***l?

I put "wi****l" because nostalic deals more with worrying over the past, but I could be wrong.

i definetly think its oracle and there was a consensus on it earlier, the question was asking about the "people" and it was specifically refferring to that first sentence i believe. a charlatan is too extreme, while the pyscics are false, they aren't total cheats and theifs

Ya I had trouble choosing "sardonic" or "condescending". I put sardonic in the end though cause I didn't think the guy actually felt superior to anything.

I put charlatan for the other quesiton.

I was stuck between wi*l and reserved, but in the end chose wi*l because the scientist spoke with a longing sort of voice.

i think i put sardonic

can we reach a consus on charlatan/oracle

does anyone remember the full sentence

also, i put wi****l because nostalgic is more about the past, like haha said
i don't think it really dealt with the past so much

Charlatan can just mean fake though too, not just cheats or thiefs. I still don't know if the question wanted the surface or "underneath the underneath."

What was the one with the number of books during WWI being greater than the fiction titles?

now i think about it might have to be oracles. charlatan is too extreme. he never flat out said that he didnt believe in them. people are just assuming. so i think oracle would be less of a stretch then oracle

wi****l
sardonic
charlatan
I'm pretty sure about these..

yeah... i'm really confused now, because i first put oracle. but then i don't think he meant to imply that they were oracle's because he didn't believe they were. but then i don't know if he's just referring to self-proclaimed oracles or people who he actually believes are oracles AHHH
