October Math: Harder than Usual?

Am I alone in thinking that this test was harder than usual? Historically, I don't miss more than 1, but this time I wound up running out of time and therefore missed 3 (2 wrong, 1 omit). I'm certainly hoping for the curve to be generous, and I see that other people think that math was harder than usual as well. So if anyone has decent experience with past math sections they have taken, how does this compare? Share your opinions/thoughts/etc.

yeaa some of the questions were rather time consuming =\ I had to omit 2. hopefully they give a good curve

Same here I thought the math was harder than usual. I usually get 750-800 on practice tests. On this one I could go anywhere from 670-770. Hopefully the curve will be forgiving.

Nope. Pretty average. I’ve taken only Collegeboard tests out of blue book and QAS, and this test was pretty much so similar in difficulty that as I was taking it, I almost forgot it was the real thing.

this actually seemed easier to me. only question i’ve missed so far is the x/rt3 one.

Yeah, I missed that one due to an unbelievably stupid mistake!

I definitely agree that it was harder than usual. I got a 750 the first time I took and 800 the second time and I think this section was the most challenging out of the three I’ve taken. I only got -1 but I felt that there were more questions that could’ve tricked others. Definitely not an 800-770-740 type, at least in my opinion.

Reading this thread makes me feel so much better!! This was my fist time taking the SAT and I did REALLY bad on math section

anyone remember the last grid-in math problem?
the question not the answer

the last question had a chart with 2 blanks and you had to find the total of something…that’s about as much as i remember.

I’m pretty confident that I only got 2 wrong (finger crossed), but I didn’t think this was an easy one at all.

I got an 800 on math the first two times I’ve taken the SATs. I remember after the test I remember thinking that the math section was kind of tricky. And then I ended up getting one of the easiest ones wrong. But who cares really; it’s the SATs.

Seemed wayyy easier than normal.

I got Rocket Review, and the book says that if the test questions seem hard, then you did well. I haven’t seen the results yet, but just saying…

I too took the maths leaving time like 1 minute left after gridding+bubbling in the answers, although generally, on other blue book tests I have had 12 minutes or so left for each section. I did what the rocket review (or Adam Robinson) told me to do so, yet I am not convinced that I would get a good score. I am scared as well, and I hope that the curve is generous.

I found it a bit harder but moreover the questions were way more time consuming for some reason. I had to cancel my scores cuz of doing bad on math.

I had a 700 from before though on it. I dunno maybe its just me.

(I’m taking it my last time this December for Regular Decision)

What’s the “x/rt3” question?

That one was kind of tricky, you had to find the slope of the l=x line which was 30 degrees , which meant 30 60 90 triangle, corresponding to the slope rise/run which was

1/Squareroot (3)

oh that question. Yeah I got that one right. It wasn’t that hard.

I’m not sure if it’s just me but this Math test was really easy compared to the ones I took before. If I don’t get 800, then I made careless errors.

The answer to the two dice question is 1/54 right?

I put 1/180 (stupid error) and omitted the x^-y question.
I still don’t get how to do that second one.

this was my first time taking the sat but i thought math was pretty easy because i was used to taking practice tests that were intentionally way harder than the actual test. sat math is more about your creativity in thinking and how you see things rather than understanding math concepts, which can certainly be frustrating.
