OCTOBER SAT Subject Test: Literature

unknown, methinks. It made sense when I substituted it into the sentence.

^ Was it unknown or unexpected? Either way that's the one I picked :P

Unknown, not unexpected. Maybe they put unexpected in as a distractor, since the both start with a 'UN'. :)

There was a roman numeral question on the flower passage, if I remember correctly. Did anyone get the answer to that?

how many can you get wrong for 700 flat?

butternut, what was the roman numeral question about? i don't remember it.

Well i have to go now, but here are my final thoughts.
^ do you guys mean "accidental?"
For the uptight women store passage, what was the murmuring contrasting? It was either her convictions or something with idiosyncracies?
- was the hay one "impermanent and beautiful?"
For the country side passage
- what was the answer for the question about how the story was told- one choice dealt with from humorous to something else, i don't really remember.

raw score of 46 is a 700 (it varies depending on the curve though)

It was like "the cold wind blowing into the garden represented which of the following?" I know I an III were right, but I wasn't sure about II....

Unknown/unexpected make the same sense contextually in that passage...in fact I think unexpected was the word I came up with in my head and then picked the closest one in the list. To divine something is to predict, so to unpredict is to not expect. Oh well, unknown is close enough, so it doesn't matter a whole lot, I think we got it :P

Also, for the roman numeral, I put E (I, II, and III). It taught her the lesson of the class, taught her the meaning of the "unexpected" line, and reminded her of the encounter with her lover.

Anonymous- It wasn't humorous, it was something else....I did put beautifull and impermanent.

also with the country one was one of them fascination with life in the court?
and another one was both were interrupted by an acquaintance?

i put I and III for the roman numeral question.

do you guys mean "accidental?"

-No, I'm pretty sure accidental had nothing to do with it

"For the uptight women store passage, what was the murmuring contrasting? It was either her convictions or something with idiosyncracies?"

I think I picked like "personal and ..." Someone help us out here?

"was the hay one "impermanent and beautiful?"

What I put :)

For the country side passage
- what was the answer for the question about how the story was told- one choice dealt with from humorous to something else, i don't really remember.

I think detached and satirical to loving and tender (?)

I think for the roman numeral question, I put I, II and III. If that was the question.

Missed the EXCEPT question with appalled - are we absolutely sure it was an EXCEPT question? I don't remember there being an EXCEPT there....because I didn't choose it. Could've been rushing though,

Undivined, I put not understood <.< Anyone else put that?

Skipped the dragon's teeth question completely, that was like ***. Wasted my time thinking about that one too.

Wheat harvested and left on the ground, I put that.

Apostrophe for the one that was missing.

lolcats, passage 2 was extended simile, because it started with as..... and then compared two things.

On second thought, I should've put that he had knowledge of jewelry....what were the other choices? Because I narrowed it down to two, the previous knowledge and jewelry, but I chose the other one.

For the sweet jasmines, it was a symbol of what she was to become, because her name got changed to Jasmine after her marriage.

And someone mentioned that you needed 59/61 to get 800? Can someone confirm that? Because that curve is ridiculous...we can only miss 2? I didn't answer at least 4....

Guys, for the numeral one, II was the same thing as I. So it had to be I, II, and III, I'm pretty sure.

Here is the poem: Prosody 101 - A poem by Linda Pastan - American Poems

Yes, I put fascination with life @ court- it seemed pretty obvious to me (like three lines imagining the dukes and stuff)

The aquaintance one- that was an EXCEPT, right? If so, I don;t think thats what I put. Do you remember the other answers?

^ Great, I'm glad it was simile. LOL @ this undivined one. Does anyone remember all the choices? I picked B for it...lol

I'm pretty sure the curve is better than 59/61 for 800

Acquaintance was an EXCEPT question. I put directly addressed each other (?)

Okay, responding to ithebig:

Yes, it was an EXCEPT question. THose are my weakness, so I pay special attention to them. :)

Oh, right, I put extended simile.

I also put knowledge of jewlery, because he said it was worht 12 to 14 pounds.

for the prosody poem, did any of you put an answer that had to do with "different but related topics to convey a single concept" or something along those lines?

They never adrdressed one another. HE addressed her, but SHE never mentioned him.
