OCTOBER SAT Subject Test: Literature

Did anyelse find the test relatively easy.....except for that poem about a virgin going away to the country?!!?!

that passage was ridiculous. i could not get who was talking, if the speaker was a male or female, or anthing.

how do you guys think you did? i cancelled because of that one poem....

haha i liked that poem :). it was cute-- but yeah, pretty easy

Glad to hear that =] What was the name of the poem ?

this was actually my first SAT test of any sort...
and omg~i had trouble wth time managing...:(
i totally agree wth thesaraness!!
keeping my fingers crossed though for the score i want though

i really have no idea how i did on this test...it's a very weird sensation.

Like, it was sort of easy, but it could have just seemed easy but had trick questions...idk, we'll see in about 20 days.

similar here ...
i found it odd how they printed that poem twice.
i think the hardest one was that one and the one about books..

That passage was a killer! I also agree with you'llsee...; I wasn't expecting it to be as easy as it was. I also found the last passage to be a bit difficult.

BTW, how many wrong can you get and still end up with a 700?

Yeah, I didn't find any of the pieces impenetrable or something, you just never know.
As for the Prosody 101 one, they were asking what the author meant by the variation and I thought it was variation of rhytm but then in the answer choices they offered only something like variation of rhythm within the iambic line so I thought that one too narrow an answer and chose the change of narrator's attitude to the subject within the poem or something. anybody lucky on that one?

According to the blue book (the book with previously administered exams for all the sub. tests) a raw score of 46 (out of 61) is a 700.

I agree with most of the previously expressed opinions. Everything seemed pretty easy to get through, at first glance, until the poem about the country.

However, I lucked out with a couple extra minutes and was able to figure it out a bit more. We'll see I suppose.

i thought the country poem was actually one of the easier passages. I thought the other poem (i forget what it was about...stupid me) was harder.

anyone got any idea about the prosody one? please

weird... i found it kinda hard. i got through it at the last minute and left 3 or so blank. anyone want to talk on aim?

and then the country one, when he wrote unwillingly part with a dear man or something, from whose perspective was it? I put from hers but wasn't really sure if it wasn't from the perspective of the poet...

could someone explain that poem about the virgin?

i thought the country one was the most difficult. and the one about the wheat was a bit confusing.

I thought the test was ok, but there were a few questions I was iffy about.

In that passage on a man taking the little girl's necklace, what did "the first time" refer to?

anyone have aim?

i have yahoo IM...no aim
