I think it depends on your strength of schedule and your grades in 11th grade honors and AP classes. If you got mostly A’s in those classes, and perhaps bring up your standardized test score a couple points, you stand a very good shot. You are gunning for the most competitive faculty at UBC, so you need to make sure your personal profile is polished and impressive.
Good luck. My D is starting her first year at Sauder in a couple weeks.
Thank you so much, if i may ask, what was you’re D’s GPA and ACT or SAT?
@LarsDaddy Her GPA was 3.9 UW/4.15W, and her SAT was 2030. She didn’t take the ACT. But from what we were told, the admissions committee looks closest at her core courses (English, science, math, languages) in her junior year. She got almost all A’s in those classes, but that was pretty consistent with her grades overall, so I’m not sure it made much of a difference. She was, like you, active in clubs and EC’s, and earned several varsity letters in sports.
Thank you very much that was helpful, I recently learned that you dont submit your grades when you submit the application, when should I expect to submit my grades?
I don’t know the answer to that question. My kid took care of that stuff. But that does not really matter. They’ll give you all the instructions when you apply as to how to submit your grades, including instructions to your high school. As I recall, it was a pretty simple process. And if you have any problems, the UBC admissions staff is very helpful.
