I feel good about UofR, but not as much for Brown or CMU. Any feedback/advice would be amazing. Thanks!

CMU has different colleges with somewhat different stats for accepted students. you should look into that since some overlapping type majors exist in more than one college. The college with Computer science is much harder than english for admissions for example

CMU: chances are low for stats because your ECs are more geared towards the humanities. Also, without any sort of math award, you will fare weakly against students who have AIME qualification. Also, given the fact that you are the co-captain of the math team without an AIME qualification kind of diminishes the effect of that particular EC.

Brown: decent chance since you have both STEM and the Humanities

Brown acceptance rate last year was 7.2%. ED applications were up 21% so RD acceptance rate likely to be right around or below 5%.

CMU last year had an acceptance rate of 17% but varies by major.

Your stats will get you considered. No one can truly chance you. Your ECs are fine but don’t stand out for a school like Brown that looks for leadership and initiative. You will need very strong and compelling essays and LOCs. Hopefully you expressed a clear understanding of how you would contribute to the school’s community.

Good luck.

Just to conclude the thread with decisions: I got rejected from Brown, but waitlisted at CMU. I declined the position, and intend to commit to U of Rochester! The aid I got was amazing (after getting rejected from several need-aware schools) and I couldn’t be happier. Thanks for all the feedback!

Congrats @HughMann URoch is a great school! Best of luck to you.

that’s great!! you’ll excel there:)

Congratulations!

Closing thread which was needlessly bumped. Congrats to the OP and best of luck
