<p>what is the minimum number of rec letters for BU? is it 1 or 2?</p>

<p>I believe for BU the minimum required was just 1 teacher recommendation along with 1 guidance counselor recommendation. </p>

<p>They allow for more if you believe the additional recommendations (especially if they aren’t teachers - such as pastors, coaches, employers/managers) speaks to another part of your character that your teacher and guidance counselor didn’t address in their letter. If you’re a Junior right now, I’d suggest you ask a teacher before the year ends - that way, the teacher has the summer to work on it if you submit certain materials to him or her (like a self reflection, a copy of your transcript, a copy of one of your assignments from that class) - and you also aren’t stressing them out when they get a flood of requests from seniors this fall. </p>

<p>Remember - you need one teacher recommendation and then the guidance counselor recommendation, so you’re basically submitting two. Since guidance counselor recommendations are typical practice, you should be reaching out to your GC early on so that he or she can get a start on the recommendation as well because your GC is also responsible for submitting a school report and your transcript. </p>

<p>@preamble1776‌ ok got it, i’lll submit two then. do u remember if BU updated ur applicant link often? cuz they said that they would update and tell you if you are missing something. do they do that like every couple days or like every week?</p>

<p>I’m not entirely sure just because I myself applied really early for RD (for RD cycle, December 1st is the deadline for priority scholarship consideration) - so I submitted everything by early November including recs - my applicant link had said that I was up to date with the exception of the midterm grades which were downloaded by BU as soon as my GC posted them on Common App. </p>
