Of the top 30 schools!

Well, I’m looking at Columbia tomorrow. Sure would be nice to run into Meadow Soprano. She never seemed that competitive.

i was always under the impression that most schools in the range of where JHU is on USNews had a medical school acceptance rate in the low 80s. Rice’s number surprised me also, impressive.

elsijfdl,
That link you provided for JHU shows med school acceptance rates for the class of 2001. I mean, the numbers are impressive, but isn’t that a bit dated. Are more current numbers available? Also, is there a relationship between schools that have a propensity to send students directly on to graduate school and a more competitive environment? I don’t count MBA schools in this as commonly there is a 4-7 lag and undergraduate grades don’t mean too much. But for medical school, law school, and other graduate programs, I would expect grades to be a major factor in grad applications along with MCAT, LSAT, etc. and related work experience and recommendations.

Re your comment on Rice, I have often argued that this might be the most underrated school in the USNWR Top 20. Statistically, its students are equal or better than any Ivy not named HYP. The biggest stumbling block to Rice achieving a higher USNWR rank is the PA score (4.1). Duke is the only Southern college that scores higher (4.5) and both IMO are underrated vs their most commonly referenced Ivy competitors (Columbia-4.6, Cornell-4.6, U Penn-4.5, Dartmouth-4.4, and Brown-4.4).
