<p>Is there some strict rule that requires freshman to live in the dorms? I am more of an independent-type person so I like my own space and everything (no judgements please haha).
Also, with students who have family in the area, is it considered weird to live with relatives?</p>

<p>Just for your Dartmouth experience, I would take the luck of the draw and live in the dorms. This from a Dartmouth parent whose son lived in The River, did NOT have an ideal freshman roommate, and lived off-campus junior and senior years (not typical at Dartmouth).</p>
