Our youngest is thinking of applying to Lehigh. During a recent campus visit, she learned that most of the upper class students live in off-campus houses/apartments. This concerned us because, while we know that campus security is very good, once you get off-campus there are some pretty shaky areas. Can any one comment on the safety/security of the off-campus housing? Also, any additional info. about off-campus housing would be helpful.

Living off campus is definately not a problem as most of the students live walking distance right around the campus. In fact, the students seem to occupy whole blocks near the school…and have a great time living there. My 2 kids attend Lehigh, one on campus and one off and both love it and feel totally safe.

My S lived on campus 2 years and off campus for three. Webster Street, 5th Street and Carleton Street all within walking distance.
