Off campus housing tips

Incoming transfer student, will be living off campus with one sibling. We're from SoCal but not too familiar with LA and are going to be making a trip out there to check out USC and the area but we'd like some suggestions/tips first.

We're looking for a one bedroom or two bedroom. Of course we'd prefer the two bedroom but probably won't be able to afford it. Budget is low, I'll be a full-time student working part-time and sib doesn't have a job lined up but is looking for full-time. WALKING distance from USC would be very very preferable.

Where should we be looking? Any tips? Thanks.

What is your budget?

In another recent thread several housing alternatives were mentioned. Google USC Student Housing to find companies. Some post vacancies on Craigslist. Also join the USC Housing Facebook group to find out about last minute availability. That’s usually one of the beat ways to get a good deal within walking distance.

This is also available but it only has a small fraction of what’s out there: http://usc.offcampuslisting.com/</a>
Note, west of campus and north of campus are considered the safest places.
