Off-campus housing (where to go or not to go)

Any honest reviews for off-campus housing?
Where do most of the Psyc majors live?

Housing definately isn’t grouped by major, but more organization.

I recently signed my lease for the commons for my sophmore year, I believe theyre the most well rounded per-se, close to campus, rent is fair (mines like 359), the outside isn’t a show winner but the inside is nice.

Southview definately is one of the nicer places to live, however don’t even think about it if you don’t have a car. Rent is higher (450ish), very nice on inside and outside, further away from campus.

I can’t speak for North 38 other than its far away and nobody really knows where it is.

859 (I think thats what its called) is by far the king of housing, resembling more of a hotel on the outside. Of course, rent is highest (I think my friends is like 550), but theres cameras in the parking lot, a bar on the roof, and the rooms are really nice. Good location on top of port and devon…except devon has a tendency to be kinda sketch.

Forest is where all the Greeks live (this coming from a Greek), rent is in 500’s. Kinda run down, not the nicest but best location for social/party scene, close to school.

The mill is where all the band kids live, thats all I know.

Fox I think is where a good bit of athletes live? Squire is in the same area. Sort of a cross between commons and southview.

Hunters Ridge is on the lower end, at least the apartments are. Similar to University Fields (AKA Ashby=trashby.)

My son lived in Pheasant Run for two years. It was reasonably priced, 380.00 including cable and internet. It does not have some of the luxuries of some of the other apartments like a pool or gym, but it was good, and well managed and no problems at all. The only thing is the bus route to Pheasant Run goes basically to JMU and back, but he managed. I would recommend it.
