Since Pomona is 35 miles from LA, is finding off campus internships with major companies/the government possible considering the limited time students have available? I have had some great internships so I'm wondering about this aspect at Pomona.

Pomona is really good at this sort of thing. The college provides salaries to students for doing normally unpaid internships at local companies and pays for transportation. I know a freshman in media studies (not exactly the most ideal place to be for employment ) who just got an internship at a major studio.

I agree with lockn. I’m a freshman and I’m already doing an internship for a non-profit in Galena, which is near LA. If you really want an internship in/around LA, I’d keep in mind that if you aren’t using public transit, rush hour from LA is a b#@$%.

On another note, though, even if PCIP (Pomona College Internship Program) doesn’t offer the internship you want, you’re welcome to find unpaid internships in the area and propose them to PCIP and get paid for them. One of my spiblings did just that.
