Reply or feel free to message me if you have any questions about taking the test or the test in general!!
About me: I took the test twice and was able to score 200 points better my second time around! Also took SAT IIs (in Bio, Reading, and Math). I was not a very good test taker in the beginning since I did not take many tests and only took one AP class (bio). But, I was able to teach myself how to take the test (thankfully!!).
I can answer questions about how to take the test, how to sign up, how to study, etc!
Feel free to ask! I have loads of knowledge about this stuff and would love to put it to use!
Im assuming the second time around you studied a lot more, my questions are more about that. For how long before the test did you study (ie a couple of weeks, a month, etc)? HOW did you study, what did you use? Any other random study tidbits would be helpful. Also what was your score the second time around?
@xSucksToSuckx well the second time around i studied the same amount, but i studied differently. The first time I focused a lot on the material of the test (learning how to do certain math problems, learning vocabulary, etc.). For the second time around, I studied more on HOW to take the test ( how to read certain questions, how to manage my time, things like that). For me what helped me the most was taking practice tests regardless of how much of a pain they were, I learned a lot about myself as a test taker. I realized sections 6 and 7 were the hardest for me because they were in the middle, so I did little things to keep me attentive and not drag down during those. I started studying around junior year and took the test end of junior year, then took the test again first semester senior year and only studied for like two months for that one. Also the first time around I used the college board blue book, which was okay. They have really good practice tests because they are the most similar to the real test, but the teaching sections were just mediocre. For me it was learning that a helpful thing for me do to was take each reading and writing section backwards. So I would start on question 25 and work my way to the beginning. This way I would get all the hard questions out of the way and when it came to time running out I could speed through the easy questions in the beginning instead of freaking out about the hard ones. Everyone learns how to take the test for them and that’s what got me 200 points better. I also had a private tutor. So if you don’t know what kind of tutoring you want, try out a group session and a private session and see what works for you. Figure out what you need help with and take it from there. Feel free to ask any more questions!
What is SATII Reading? Lol
Woops maybe that’s not what it’s called. It’s just basically the reading section of the SAT but with more questions about like metaphor and themes and literary devices and things like that. Wait! It’s literature that’s what it’s called. Sat II Literature. And it’s kind of like reading comprehension as well as understanding structure of writing like there are a lot of poems and stories from many different time periods. It was actually a lot harder than I thought! It’s def good to do some practice questions and brush up on all that if you’re going to take it! Sorry about the mix up.
You’re not off to a great start.
Lol this thread is already funny.
I was actually thinking of making a similar thread and I don’t mean to hijack this thread, but if anyone wants any SAT tips just ask. My qualifications are that in October I got a 2300 and in June I got a 2400.
