Official 2006 Intel Science Talent Search STS thread!

Damn you kids! This thread makes me sad now :(

hahaha just kidding ;) Good luck to you all in March!

Um, you're publishing in Nature. Nature >> STS. Get over it :p

Ha. I don't think I'll get in. It's not that good of a paper.

Wow, results: http://sciserv.org/sts/65sts/winners.asp

Yeah. Best week of my LIFE. An absolutely amazing experience!!

Although I know nothing about Intel...

I was at a lecture on Monday and saw the set-up for the Intel STS banquet inside the Ronald Reagan building. It was pretty much next to the food court, so I couldn't miss it. A little tacky, but pretty cool. :]

hehe yep, it was a fairly extravagant place. Very unique experience and I'm extremely sad that it's over. ~sigh~ Back to school for me...

yeah, I'm missing everyone so much already!

it's also weird to read posts in Adam's actual voice now. actually it's kind of creeping me out. no offense ;)

Aw, man.. I could've stayed and met you guys. Well, I love the Reagan Center-- it hosts everything around here!

Oh man, Kim, check out the nostalgia. Isn't it weird to, like, look at me making fun of your project months ago in this thread, and realize that we had no idea back then that we'd end up where we were this past week, making fun of your project in D.C? ~sigh~

Check your e-mail, btw, I sent one out to the group regarding........um......top-secret Intel finalist stuff that I can't discuss in this forum.

stop, you're making me too sad and lonely here!

and it's sleeting. typical boston march. we really should've stayed in DC on those $50.

Yeah, we should have...it's a shame we didn't....which we definitely didn't.......~looks around and pretends that the other 37 finalists aren't around me in this D.C. youth hostel~

I realize I've been doing a lot of sighing lately, but ... ::sigh::

Were you the one gushing in the elevator to that speech lady about it being the best week of your life?? lol

Worry not, I feel the same way.

Hey, Diane, um, I miss you. Yeah. You're really not that far away, we need some serious chillage time.

And, no, I don't believe I was that person gushing, lol, sorry. But I could very easily gush about that, so maybe it was me? :p

ooooh man, it's a bit weird to look back on this thread, from the night when we were all waiting for the calls. Seeing Sukrit post after he got the call, seeing Kim e-tacklehug me (I didn't know you've been doing that for so long!), looking at Kate's mom saying how Kate wasn't going to make it :p It's bringing on some nostalgia here...

Does the STS committe look at each participant hollistically, putting into consideration their family, school, environment background?

so wish that. but they do look at student academia. social/economic background matters—megapoor and megarich kids from my school do win
