Official 2006 PSAT Scores Thread

CR: 1 wrong, 0 omitted = 80
Math: 1 wrong, 0 omitted = 76
Writing: 1 wrong, 0 omitted = 78
Total: 234

Last year I got a 219; unsure of breakdown. I'd be happier if I had gotten the math question wrong for reasons other than misreading. On the one where it had you find the slope of a line perpendicular to a given line, I just gave the slope of the given line. If I hadn't misread it, I would have tied for top score in the school. Now I'm just tied for second - with one of my best friends who got the exact same questions wrong, also omitted none, and thus had the same score breakdown. She even misread the math question the same way. We're basically the same person.

Did either of the two people above me have a projected SAT score range of
720 - 800 for their math part? Thanks.

why is my school so retarded?????

I WANT MY SCORES NOW, NOT AFTER THE EFFING BREAK!!!!!

AARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The "Official Practice Test" thingy's curve is so off...

P.S: What was the conversational - scholarly one? hmmmm, what else was I confused on?....

The conversational-scholarly one was humorous-earnest...

But I agree with worstbadboy's question...can some people with results post projected SAT score ranges? For some unlucky people on this thread, that's all we have to work with.

wbb--I will take pity on you since you have been asking this for a while and no one will answer you. Just got back my HS junior's PSAT (Wednesday exam). Before we got them, we checked the collegeboard site for the range--it said:
CR 670-770
Math 700-780

Actual Scores: CR 71, Math 76

Hope this helps. I appreciate how frustrating it can be to have to wait.

Thanks a lot. Do you think that a math score range of 720 - 800 could mean an 80 and a Cr score range of 650 - 760 could mean a 70?

Well, since one wrong on the Wednesday math test was a 76 and she had a range below 800, then I would think that you'd have to have an 80 on the same test to have a range to 800. It's harder to tell with the CR without more data, but I'd agree that you should have something like a 70.

I got a 240, but I get the distinct impression the PSATs don't count for much... Out of curiosity, would a perfect score on the PSATs give you a leg up in applying for a program like Telluride?

does anyone know the cutoff for merit this year for CA? my school already has the scores but the counselors are refusing to give them to us until after the break :{

**** i BOMBED the psat.. as in 205... but i got a 2240 on my sat.. i guess it makes a little bit of sense since i prepared for the sats a lot more and my nerves werent acting up that day, but STILL.. :-(

am i screwed if i want to get into an ivy? i mean i know psats tech. dont count cuz its practice or whatever, but still... i heard from somebody that if u cant even qualify for nat merit, there's no way ur getting into an ivy.

oh btw im probably retaking the sat's so 2240 wont be my final score cuz i know that its probably not good enough of a score for those crazy northeastern schools

I got a 200 on my PSAT:
64 Reading (missed 10)
73 Math (missed 2, could've gotten an 80 if I were more careful)
63 Writing (missed 6, omitted 1)

My score is in the 96 percentile (nationally?)

I think it was better than I expected (I'm not a super-smart guy), but do you think I'll be able to get commendation (I'm in CA if that helps)? And if I somehow get commended, will it boost my chance of getting into a UC? I really regret not studying at all (I only took the practice test, due to my extreme laziness).

Can we organize these scores by state?

October 14

writing - 77 (missed one)
cr - 80 (missed one)
math 80 (missed none)

California

Took the saturday one

HOLY SHTTTTTTTTT

I was soooo happy when i got my scores, wasn't expecting this at all....biggest surprise was writing since i knew the curve was gonna be harsh

CR - 75
M - 80
W - 74
= 229

I was expecting low 220's, high 210's......omg, and i'm in NJ, so i actually made semifinalisttt

Kinda annoyed that our school took so long to get them back, but it was well wroth the wait =)

ya Ummm.... still no scores for me

lol that stinks

our school has been holding the scores from us because they lost a few of the tests. The thing I am worried about is that I have not been receiving a lot of mail from top colleges recently, only info of a few summer programs in yale, and stanford. I was wondering if you guys immediately were bombed with letters from good schools if you got national merit?

no, i haven't received that much mail, but neither have a gotten my PSAT score back yet. I hope I didn't do so badly; I took the October SAT and got a 2330, though, but....can never be too sure.....

I made the national merit cutoff without a doubt, but I haven't received a THING.
