^ I understand now. Thank you for clearing that up, kyledavid80!

However, since Princeton ended its early admissions cycle you can't match with it, correct? You can apply to it only through RD, right?

No. The Match round and the early rounds are completely separate. You can still get into Princeton through the Match program.

^ Really? Well, that's great to know; thanks again!

This is a great board!

Thanks Kyledavid 80 for the advice on the non-custoidal waiver. I have already started gathering the paperwork I'll need for that. I will probably be asking you more as time goes on. I was very worried that the situation would ruin any chance I had with QB or any scholarship. You are my hero!
LOL

I started filling out my ap last night. On the EC page, I listed my top four ECs. I was emailed by my school that I am going to be invited to apply for National Honor Society but have not, as yet received anything. Other kids in my AP Lit have not as well, so I don't believe it's just me.

However, I think it would be great to be able to include that on my application. Once the application is completed and sent in to QB, can we send in additional information such as this example?

Also, I went from homeschooling to public school in my second semester of sophomore year. Consequently, the county required me to test in all subjects up to that time. I worked as hard as I could to catch up, while maintaing a 4.0, participating in about 6 ECs, and working.

My transcript reflects all credits being completed except I still have to test (guidance office) for a semester of history and Algebra 2. I want to reflect Algebra 2 since I am in Adv Alg/Trig now, and have completed Geometry.

When I came into the school, the guidance counsellor (who is now retired) gave me ill advice and told me I had to take a tech diploma and I took Mathematical Money instead of Algebra 2. I also didn't take language, so had to take a five week intensive Latin course this past summer which covered a year to catch up.

I don't want to wait until last minute to send in my app to QB, but I also want those grades reflected if they cannot be added after submission.

Confused? So am I!!! :-)

should I apply through QB if I only really want to go to 7 of the QB partner schools? what if I get matched to my 8th school, do I HAVE to go?

alexblake, don't rank that school then. You can rank only 1 school to its maximum limit (don't know what that is this year).

"You can rank only 1 school to its maximum limit" what do you mean?

Is it worth it to apply to QB even if I'm not deemed a finalist?

When you apply through QB, you can rank however many schools you want. If you only want to go to MIT or Stanford on that list, rank those two only. You don't need to rank, say, 5 or 7.

After we enter the teachers/counselor on the recommendation page, do we print the form and bring it to school to be filled out and faxed? I'm not sure if the teachers/counselor simply access the forms online when they receive their emails from QB or if I should print them.

Thanks!

Btw, GaMom - I'm from Ga too!

tsprite:

You're most welcome! Tell me if there are any problems.

To my knowledge, no. Once the application is sent, it's a sealed deal, except in special cases.

When will you know whether you got into NHS? The application isn't actually due until the end of September, over a month away.

If you cannot have the changes shown officially, then you should explain that in the additional info.

You might also write an essay on the challenge of transitioning from homeschool to high school: the very different environment, the difficulty of catching up, and so on. This would definitely help, I'd think, since it represents more adversity that you had to overcome.

I'm not so sure about this--I wasn't even aware that they could be sent in electronically (I know that was the case in 2006 and before, but I was told by someone at QB that starting in the 2007 round, all would be submitted by fax--I guess that's not the case). Ask your teachers/counselors if they are able to access them online, and if they're able to submit just fine, don't bother printing them out. QB would notify you if there are any problems.

Good luck!

You do not need to rank 8 schools. You may rank as few as you would like. (For example, I only ranked one school.) You may not, however, rank more than 8.

Hi!
Are we allowed to attach a resume to our QB application? I was rather disappointed to find that QB asked me to list top 5 ecs when I have a lot more... For one, I've done many hours of community service at different places and I really wanted to show that somewhere on my application. Can I write about any other ecs/awards that I've received in the additional information section? Or is the section only for other extenuating circumstances?

Thank you!

To my knowledge, there is no option to attach a resume as the Common App does. If there is indeed an additional info section, you can put more there.

Remember, though, that many schools require additional applications like the Common App or their own applications, and they may allow you to attach a resume.

One possibility is to list that all as "community service" as an EC, and list the average hours/week. You might also expand on it in an essay, if it's truly something you're dedicated to.

Unless the directions specify otherwise, I don't see why not. ;)

KyleDavid80, again thanks for the great and quick answers!

FYI, the teachers/counselor do have to fax their recommendations to QB. I saw QB sends an email after we list them to notify them of our request.

I just wasn't sure whether to print those for the teachers/counselor and bring them to school, or if they should print the forms themselves. As long as they get them, I guess it's fine! :-)

What is the one school you ranked?

I ranked Stanford only.

Cardinal through and through! ;)

So, if we become a finalist can we update our application before it is sent to colleges? Another question: if we become a finalist, colleges will get QuestBridge's app. along with theirs, correct? So, if we can't update our QuestBridge app. we can still update the college's before we send it, right?

No. When you hit submit, that's what colleges will see. You might be able to update the colleges individually by contacting them directly.

Correct. Of course, not all require an additional application, but all of them receive the QB apps as well.

Yes, you can.

What is the most reader-friendly way of formatting the Additional Info section? Short sentences vs. paragraphs?

I'd go with short sentences, unless it's something that requires more explanation (like extenuating circumstances). But if you just wanted to say what position you held in some activity, a short sentence will suffice.

^ Cool thanks. I can't believe summer is almost over.....

I hear the Quest Bridge application is really long, but there are only 3 essays and one short answer (correct me if I'm wrong). Whats the long part of the application?

does anyone know what the admittance rates of Quest Bridge finalist to each of the partner schools is?
