Official 2008 Questbridge National College Match Discussion and Help

Yay! I got out of the shower for this good news! Woot!

Although they have given us an extension, they took away the link to log into the My Locker...unless i'm completely blind right now...

Wow, you know you guys could have just created a chat room for all of these short messages...

Please, tomorrow, create a chatroom...

Help! What if I faxed the teacher recommendations BEFORE Sep. 30, but they have not arrived yet? Is that fine?

should be.

When you're pasting your essay on, the thingy gets rid of paragraph indentation. so how many spaces I'm supposed to put to show paragraph indentation??

^Edit the paragraph indentation directly in the application...so like click Enter, Enter again for each paragraph you want to indent.

Athena, I just did enter.

Hey, do you guys mind listing the colleges that you're going to rank by the order of favorites?

Apparently, I haven't done enough research on all of these colleges to decide which one I'm willing to attend for binding-decision. Should I rank a college I'm not sure about just 'cuz I like that it's close to home?

Also, is it wiser to rank all 8 even if you're not sure you want to go there if they accept you? cuz basically all of QB's partner colleges are like top schools in the US right? So it wouldn't matter what school to get in with full 4 year scholarship?

Make sure to rank colleges you know are right for YOU. Even if you do have the stats to get into Yale or Princeton, there might be better choices for you.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!

So how do we get in? they took out the link! noo!

Edit: i found it on my faves

Wow--over 1000 replies already!

I'm sorry if I wasn't able to get your essay back to you--it may have been sent too late, or I may not have received it. (I've been terribly busy of late.)

I hope the application went okay for everyone! :) For now, relax a bit--you'll have more applications, I assume, but doing the QB app makes the others seem easy.

As always (seriously this time), good luck!

Is the "Additional Information" essay required? If not, will it hurt me not to write anything for it? I honestly don't think there is any additional information.

If we're planning on taking the Oct. 25th ACT (i know it won't get there in time for QB), should i still mention that I plan to take it?

^some people couldn't submit their scores because they left it blank with just a date. if it works, go for it.

if anyone's having problems submitting look at the navigation with the Personal Info, Academics, and Essays and click the link that is still aqua blue and complete that section. if the link appears plain blue, that section is completed.

4 hours ago, i couldn't submit and the application kept saying that i have to complete 'school info' (which i did) and it turned out that the classes in the transcript portion all had to be labeled with AP, CL or HL, even though they were just regular classes. If this is anyone's problem, and you end up marking everything HL or AP, just leave QB a note in the additional info portion in 'essays'.

hey can someone please tell me

if i submitted last night and i just made a few changes right now and i hit the submit button again will they have my newest version?

Does anyone want to read my essays? I like them, but I'm not sure whether they are too cliched.

i'll read it caatherine

Hi everyone!

Re: transcript/score reports (i.e. SAT) -

These need to be faxed to QuestBridge under the cover page provided on the application page. These are usually faxed by your guidance counselor but separate from the guidance counselor's recommendation/Secondary School Report form.

Re: Picking schools for Match

These are due by Sunday, October 5th @ 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
You do not have to pick 8 schools. You can pick up to 8 schools, but you can also opt to pick say, just 1. You can pick 1 - 8 schools. Make sure they are schools you REALLY want to attend because if you become a finalist and are matched it is BINDING unless it is a NON-BINDING school (i.e. Yale, Princeton, etc.).

Re: Financial information

I believe at this time no tax info etc needs to be sent to QuestBridge. If you become a finalist then you will need to submit financial documents for consideration from schools. Check the school requirements section to see what your potential school needs. Some require their own financial paperwork and documents, while others use the CSS profile and documents.

Re: Test Scores from October testings

I posted the info from the QuestBridge website on this subject a few days ago. Apparently (I am also taking SAT subject tests this coming Saturday)
our scores will not be able to be considered for QuestBridge's finalist decision, however, we should enter them asap for consideration by the schools (RD).

I know this has been a tedious journey, but remember the possibilities! ;)

Reading the QuestBridge website and back through this thread thoroughly will help in tremendous ways.

I submitted my application on Saturday because I read last year's thread and saw they had the same problems as last night. (That and my mom was basically standing over me to press that submit button and FINALLY get it done!) ROFL

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

Just a reminder that the CSS Profile online form is available today.

hey guyss
do you think that I can fax my AP scores myself since my guidance forgot...teh website says that they do have my scores but just SAT and Transcript....

do you think that would be alright?

With respect to your "Picking schools for Match" topic, can you list schools, but not rank them? I'm helping my niece with the college app process, including QB. She has 3 QB schools that she's ready to attend ("OK") and 3 or 4 more ("non-OK") that she ranks lower than some non-QB schools she'll be applying to. But she'd like to use the no-application-fee feature of QB to apply to the non-OK's in the RD phase, if she doesn't match with one of the OK's in the CM phase. (confused yet?). So she'd like to "list" 6 or 7 schools with QB, but "rank" only the 3 "OK's." Can that be done? Thanks
