Official 2008 Questbridge National College Match Discussion and Help

I meant to address this specifically to tsprite, but anyone can answer.

papakipari, just have the school fax them when you go back-- they said they'll keep accepting those for two days or so more.

bopbob, she can list the non-absolute schools under the "application forwarding" tab, not the ranking tab.

jojodevka, Thanks. I hadn't investigated the "application" part of the QB site enough to know these options existed and I don't think she'd gotten that far in it either.

From the QuestBridge site:

Due to the slow application response time caused by the heavy traffic on our servers, we will be extending the application deadline by 24 hours, until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday, October 1. This extension also applies to teacher recommendations, secondary school reports, transcripts and test score reports.

We apologize for any difficulties you have experienced. Thank you for your patience, as we are seeing unprecedented levels of traffic on our servers.

I believe you cannot fax the test scores/transcript personally. It must be faxed in by the guidance counselor or another school official. Remember we listed our grades on the application. The faxes from the school are to verify our information.

From QB website:

Official transcripts and standardized test score reports need to be faxed to QuestBridge by a counselor. A separate fax coversheet will be generated to go with these materials. Counselors must use the fax coversheet provided. The coversheet allows us to efficiently sort and process these forms. Look for a link to this fax coversheet on your 'My Locker' page. All forms are due September 30, 2008.

Of course that is extended to this evening.

From QB:

The last testing dates for which QuestBridge can accept results are October 4 for the SAT I and II, and September 13 for the ACT. There is a question on the application that you can use to indicate if you took the September ACT or will be taking the October SAT.

When you receive your new score report from tests taken on these dates, please submit the scores to QuestBridge through your 'My Locker' page. You should ask your high school counseling office to fax your score reports to QuestBridge using the 'Transcript & Test Scores' fax cover sheet available on your 'My Locker' page. If you are planning to take the October 25 ACT, you may send the scores directly to the colleges, but be aware that they may not arrive in time to be considered in admissions decisions.

If you are selected as a National College Match finalist, you will need to send official score reports to the colleges that you rank. Refer to the National College Match requirements page for instructions regarding submission of test scores to colleges.

On early decision from QB website:

If you choose to participate in the College Match, you cannot also apply to other colleges Early Decision or Early Action. Since the College Match is a binding early admission program, applying to both QuestBridge and another program early would violate the agreement with the other program. If you fill out an application but do not become a QuestBridge finalist (notification of finalist status will occur on October 24, 2008), then you are released to apply to any college Early Decision or Early Action.

I also have a question about our match list.

Once we list our potential "match" schools, if we are not matched can we then add other schools to the RD forwarding?

i.e. - a list of three in the match round and if not selected for those - can we have say five schools listed as forwarding to RD?

Thanks!

Do we have to send AP scores now or only after we've been accepted?

Just a reminder to everyone, there is also a budding Questbridge 2008 group on Facebook!

Login | Facebook

wow. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE APPLYING. chances are getting slimmer ...

Don't we have to list Questbridge as a recipient of our official SAT scores, just as we list the colleges?

Anyone know the answer to my AP score question?

: ) no. Ask your guidance counselotr to fax them in wen u get em.

cute name btw. very clever

BTW, Can we apply early action to other schools if we're doing the matching process? (I only ranked non binding colleges)

I dont remember seeing a slot that said anything about taking the OCT 4 SAT on the application so i put it in my additional info part. Did anyone else find that part?

cc3c, you cannot apply to other schools...
here's a reply I got when I asked the same question to qb:

If you choose to participate in the College Match, you cannot also apply to other colleges Early Decision or Early Action. Since the College Match is a binding early admission program, applying to both QuestBridge and another program early would violate the agreement with the other program. If you fill out an application but do not become a QuestBridge finalist (notification of finalist status will occur on October 24, 2008), then you are released to apply to any college Early Decision or Early Action.

Also, i submitted my app but had to change something do to scores barely coming in.However, we could still submit after the original submittance, will it show up in the app?
