Official 2010 Calculus AB/BC FRQs Discussion

Beta, have you seen the scoring standards before? What they do is for each part a, b, c, and d if there is a d, there are a couple points assigned to each part. Within each part you get 1 point for 1 thing, another point for another, and so on. So you could get partial credit, yes.

Esplin, it isn’t 1.25. g(3) is 5+PI+1.5, and g(2) is 5-PI

on the AB calc exam i realized that I went back to fix part A of number 6 and after checking this thread I realize that i fixed it correctly… however I forgot to redo part b with my new equation. How will they grade that? Will it be all wrong? I did the right method, it’s just in an equation with the wrong slope.

I did the BC test. I think we only share a few of the problems

No, the definition is what piccolo said. It’s the average amount of ballots in the box from t=0 to t=12. The 1/8 is there because of the mean value theorem for integrals. 1/8 = 1/b-a. b is 8 and a is 0. The MVT of integrals is 1/b-a times the integral from a to b of whatever the equation is.

@esplin, I think it is euler’s method, the stepsize is like -0.5

Well, not saying I’m right, I could definitely be wrong.

oh shoot, I didn’t “negativize” my steps : /

I’ve made so many stupid mistakes : (

I hope they’re generous with partial credit. Or i’m utterly screwed

Ok, suppose worst case scenario:

I answered 42 multiple choice and missed around 10 and my FRQ scores were: 9,8,2,8,3,6

What would my score be?

Esplin: A very very high four or a very very low five.

71.4 so a 5 but low

How lenient are the AP Graders, I screwed up on 4a, and therefore b, and c messed up.

for soem reason I thought the inside didn’t exist and I used the disk method…

Seriously, is it “if it’s right, you get point, if its wrong it’s wrong, no point”?

Does anyone know how to guess the points of each part of each question? Like do (a questions only receive 1 point or they can receive more? I’m so ****ed… the finding the area R one I listed the correct integrand with the correct limits but when I integrated in the end I put 3^3 is 9 ■■■ so I got the wrong answer -____- Will i get points for this?

Whew, I think I would get a solid five if the graders gave me partial credit and ignored my mistakes.

When are scoring guidelines released?

^ I did something like that too. ;~;
Usually I think they assign point values by which part was more difficult?
For problems like that you usually get a point for the integral, a point for limits, and a point for the answer so there’s usually partial credit.

I like this partial credit…I have seen the scoring guidelines for past ones, but they certainly wouldn’t have one point for each answer in the ones I missed. I didn’t know how they did it when your answers are somewhat correct but not fully correct…if it was an all or nothing thing for the simple (1-2 pt) questions.

TheMathProf- are you sure your entry to 2(c) is correct? I keep trying it and finding that there were 700 entries unprocessed at midnight…

Anyone know what the cut-off will be for a 3? Will the curve be more lenient than last year’s and 2008’s?

Wow I did so badly on the FRQs =[
I hope they are generous when they grade mine

So… when are solutions coming out? Anyone know?
