Official 2011 AP Results Thread

@LoseYourself: I’ve already established that I do good because I can get college credit for this and save my parents money. I do it because it helps me. I’ve already mentioned this. I’m not working hard for the acknowledgment of others, but I won’t refuse the acknowledgment. If I did a job well done, why not let people know? I already said I respect your own opinion and that this thread might not be the best for you since people will be telling their scores on here and you might perceive a lot of it to be bragging. I’m dropping this issue; this is a thread for the 2011 AP scores, not what people think about telling others their scores.

^ I agree. It’s can be painful not letting anyone know your joy over AP scores without perceived as a show off :D

Uhm. Not to poke my nose where it doesn’t belong, but this is a results thread. What do you expect to be found on here? I mean is there a rule against posting your scores if they are too good? It would be bragging if this was a BAD results thread, but your results are your results and this thread was startedo you could post them regardless of how good or how bad they are.

Yea, pointless argument

English Lang - 3

My teacher just emailed me. It was my first AP, so I’m just happy I passed. Especially since only 20 out of like 50 in both classes passed xD

what states have received scores?

Physics B - 5
Chem - 4
World History - 4 or 5 (I got credit for the class, and I needed a 4 or 5 to do so, but I don’t know whether I got a 4 or 5)
English Lit - 3

As soon as you post in this thread, you are actively seeking acknowledgement.

Why let people know your scores? What’s the practical value of telling everybody your scores?

You don’t have to reiterate the point of this thread; I’m not naive, and I don’t care about the existence of the thread, and I was just wondering why we have these threads. Is it just to satisfy the egos of us overachievers?

Why do people need to know in the first place? For chance threads, I can see some point to them as they can help future applicants identify weaknesses and strengths in their own application, but I really don’t see the point of an AP Scores thread.

Again, I’m not naive enough to not know what is being posted here.

If you post bad scores, you are actively seeking out pity. If you post good scores, you are actively seeking acknowledgement.

What’s the point of this?

I don’t agree. Another argument! :D

@LoseYourself- Haha I know exactly what kind of person you are, and I know that type of person so well because I am guilty as well. You like to take the opposite side and argue for attention. It is in this sense that you are a complete hypocrite, because you are accusing others of seeking attention and instant gratification, while you are seeking the attention of a heated debate. I am the exact same way sometimes. I was once asked to write an essay, “Does violence in the media have negative effects on children?” I took the side that violence in the media not only doesn’t have negative effects but can actually have positive ones. Sorry buddy but this time there really is no argument if you really don’t like this thread you wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t go on a Nazi thread just to argue will them because there is no point. Same thing here

^^

Purposes of results thread:

Shows what could be achieved; a motivator for some people

Allows people to rant (relieves some stress)

Allows people to share their excitement (being able to do so without getting bashed… generally speaking)

Allows people to compare their own scores with others; see how well they do relative to other CC’ers

Shows a general overview of the CC academic potential

I could go on with more reasons; people aren’t necessarily bragging or asking for pity.

This may have been true…if someone had actually answered my question already…

AP Chem - 4… was worried about this one but pulled it off for college credit !
AP Comp. Sci. - 5
AP Eng. Lit. - 2
AP Calc BC - 5
AP Spanish - 1 lol yeah that went bad. it’s what I expected though…

^^ Didn’t I just answer you question? If those “purposes” are not of any use to you, then simply don’t utilize this thread - it’s one out of many threads on CC. After all, the vast majority of threads are not of use to everyone.
Anyway, last post about this on this thread.

Why do we need a general overview of CC’s academic potential?

Euphemism for seeking pity.

Euphemism for seeking praise.

Although I’m skeptical about the actual amount of people who use the thread for these functions, I can concede that they are viable reasons (albeit minor).

Even though I did say that that would be my last post…
Your euphemism argument is flawed. Nobody here is “praising” anyone else or “pitying” anyone else. I will -thus- assume that most people are not expecting praise or pity from others, otherwise this thread would have stopped long ago. Also, many people who did “average” also posted their scores. How would they be seeking praise/pity?
And I wouldn’t know if those other reasons that you pointed out as “minor” are actually minor; however, they do apply to me, and possibly other people too. Perhaps explain your reasoning why they are only minor reasons?

edit: If you want to continue, maybe make a new thread instead, since this is off topic. I’ll look at it tomorrow.

That doesn’t mean that people aren’t seeking praise and pity.

I read this four times and still don’t understand what you are trying to tell me here.

What’s average?

Bias.

I don’t get why sharing excitement = seeking praise? I posted my scores in this thread awhile back, and though I come back now and then, I never went to see if anyone responded. I know my scores (APUSH-4, Lit-5, Calc BC-5) are not anything impressive for the average CC’er, but I personally was proud of them.

I struggled a lot this year, between AP courses, skipping two years total in Latin, Honors/accelerated courses, ECs, and personal struggles. Calc BC was probably the most challenging. I’m not a math-oriented person at all, and except for one semester, I have had awful teachers for the past six years. I was ahead a year in the most advanced track of my school’s math curriculum. A lot of people call Calc BC easy, but it wasn’t for me at all, and I thought there was no way in hell I could get above a 3. Because I was a year ahead, I didn’t really know anyone in my math class, and I kind of resigned myself to failure.

CC inspired me. That may sound pathetic, but that’s the truth of it.

CC is known for containing tons of cutthroat braggy overachievers, but I have met some of the nicest people here. I have explained and been explained so many concepts preparing for the AP. Whenever I had a frantic question on something I didn’t understand, several CCers stepped up and explained the whole thing to me with a virtual smile. When I was freaking out, I got a lot of support and advice from CCers, and personal motivation too, from seeing all that overachieving CCers manage.

Environment matters a lot. At my school, I’m taking a schedule that qualifies as “most rigorous”, and people freak out over academics 24/7. People have an “every woman for herself” attitude, and the stressful attitude is infectious. However, CC has helped me loosen up. I see people balance so, so much, yet they still took time out to help me with anything I needed, and I’ve learned to do the same.

I’m not looking for praise that I got a 5 on Calc BC. Basically everyone in CC did. However, I truly do believe that CC helped me get that 5, and it is only fitting, after all the support I got achieving that 5, that I acknowledge it here.

Of course there are members of CC who are only here to brag, but honestly, this thread isn’t about that. It’s about celebrating your personal achievements and demonstrating what you can do through motivation. Look through this thread. The people who are posting here have already been members of this forum for awhile, with many posts; the people who are posting here have been using this forum, contributing to this forum, and ultimately have been helped by this forum. If anything, I see this thread as a symbol of academic camaraderie.
